    I am using a Samsung Series 5 550P7C with Windows 8

When the labtop is unplugged and using the battery, the screen would flicker/flash when displaying certain page/window/image on certain brightness. The flash goes away when I dim the display. What is causing that.
Everything is fine when it is plugged.

No luck, my Intel Graphics HD Control panel does not have the Panel Self Refresh setting under the Power/On Battery section but instead a Power Saving option which i already turned off.

Too bad, I had hoped that would fix it. I don't have this model myself, and I have not experienced that flashing problem. I am merely passing advice from others who reported similar issues.

If the problem was consistent both when plugged in and on battery, I would say it sounds like a weak LCD cable. But since it's only on battery, it is more likely to be some kind of setting somewhere.

You could go through the Advanced Settings in your power plan and try each settings that is different between Plugged in and On battery to see if you can find the culprit.

In any case, please post whatever you may find out.
