Hi,
i got my Samsung Notebook back from repair (couldn't start it anymore after just 10 months. In this time i used the Laptop maybe 6 times.). They had to change the mainboard says repair description. Now i thought everything is alright but it just freezes completely from time to time (have to hold power button for 5 secs to reset it, otherwise it wont restart or react). Has anybody had this problem before? Also i can't acces the bios anymore. Before repair i could, now i don't know how to get in bios.
I'm about to send it back for repairing again after calling Samsung tomorrow. Anybody knows if i can return it to Samsung and buy another one by paying up the difference to a new one?
Thx for ur help

I've not heard about people being able to trade in a defective Samsung computer for a newer one.
Do you know what work was carried out during the last repair? If you can't get into the BIOS then this next repair should involve a mainboard swap.

They swaped the mainboard on their last repair and after that i can't get into bios anymore and it freezes completely from time to time ;-(. Had the freezes yesterday after about 2 minutes and so on.

There have been a few instances of people being unable to get into the BIOS, usually with Windows 8 + UEFI but I can't remember the specific models. I presume you know that the timing of the F2 key press is quite critical - the time slot is short if Fast Boot is enabled. I tap the F2 key 2 or 3 ties per second starting immediately the computer is turned on / reboots.

Well i have windows 7 installed and what is uefi, just heard of it. I tried F2 but perhaps i didn't hit the right moment. But i don't think the freezing problem is solved in bios anyway, so i better return it once more to get it fixed. Just have 1 month waranty left i think (it is 1 year waranty by samsung?).

Ok tried hammering the F2 button and it worked. Thx a lot for ur hint. Saw the UEFI Thing in Bios and it's disabled anyway. SO just the freezes left

Thanks.
If they have already changed the mainboard then my suspicion would next fall on the HDD or its connector. Examination of the HDD SMART data might give a clue (but might not if the problem is with the controller or connector).
