It does, I have an 8GB Corsair stick in mine.

Right now i'm testing Windows 7 USB Stick Edition, to solve my 32bit OS issue, if it works out fine, i'll wait and save some money to buy a new 7mm instead. -

i already have an external mouse, but not always is with me. however the windows drivers don't support gestures. -

I never needed to install any drivers, they came pre-installed with OS. Under mouse proprieties, select ELAN tab and click proprieties (check picture)..
If you don't have it installed it should be available either in ELAN or samsung support page.Attached Files:

you also have different cpu....sooo none of you have the problem where you hold the arrow key to scroll down a couple pages on the web browser and then try to move mouse and its stuck for like 2-5secs?
Note i have virtual memory turned off
edit: tried it again and my wireless mouse doesn't freeze but the mousepad does...what the heck
EDIT: yes!!! I got the scroll option from the mouse pad now!!! I thought this dumb thign just didnt have that option lol. When i scroll using the mousepad it doesn't hang. Only when i use the arrow keys but now i dont have to use the arrow keys now yes!!!!! Still freezes when you right click on some things but no biggy. Must be glitchy drivers -
I'm sorry, what is exactly the arrow key? I scroll down either with 2 fingers or on side pad, depending on definitions like i showed you. Don't get this "arrow key"..
Also, i don't what the CPU as to do with the mouse.. I'm pretty sure the mouse is the same, considering both my RC530 and NP305U both use same pad drivers. And virtual memory to basic functions like a mouse? Don't think so. -

I'm 95% sure this is your problem. I thought the arrows keys were something on the mouse, not actual keyboard keys.. lol

Although i know this exists (had the function more visible in my Asus 1201N), i can't find anything on it. I've been all over Samsung control center and user guide, and the closest i could find was Palm detection function, which is not quite the same, but could explain the behavior.. Also, have you tried updating drivers? I update all mine using Driver Genius every month or so..

No idea, my guess is, probably not. Samsung support is not focused in latest drivers as much as is in BIOS and software updates, and (maybe) driver bug or windows related hotfixes.
Driver Genius focus directly on hardware manufacturers and all downloads are made from manufacturer support website. This will guarantee you latest drivers in all devices, without having to do it yourself, searching one by one...
But hey, it's just a personal option, do it or don't, it's up to you. -

yea i bookedmarked it. i'll run it on both computers later (laptop and netbook) thx

has anybody tried to overclock the i3? Is the performance you get out of it worth it?
I imagine it reduces the lifetime of the cpu. -

^^ FSB overclocking is a no go for SB chips, so no point in doing that. And this is an ultraportable capable of handling almost any thing you throw at it, why reduce the battery life and increase heat dissipation as well? No point in overclocking this.

Hi all,
Ok so i am having some really bizarre issues with my laptop now...
I have just replaced the hard drive to an SSD, installed windows again as well as all of the most up to date drivers directly from Intel as well as the Samsung control centre ... Everything works as it should APART from the wireless...
When the laptop is in high performance mode AND plugged in - i lose any and all wireless connections (Works fine from the battery). I have to be in any of the other performance settings for the wireless to work.
I have checked the advanced power settings and set the wireless mode to high performance and still no joy. I know the obvious answer would be to use the balanced performance setting while plugged in... But I would rather find out the root cause of this issue.
I have tried installing both samsung and Intel drivers for the wireless card, tried uninstalling samsung control centre and all to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Demon -
Have you checked Samsung Control Center power settings?
-
Hi bud,
thanks for the reply - yes i have checked Samsung control centre, nothing in there to remedy the situation.
i have just spend the best part of my evening switching between the standard hard drive and the SSD... As soon as i go back to the old unit the WIFI connects immediately and is flawless - As soon as the SSD it all goes pear shaped! on battery power its absolutely fine but as soon as i go onto AC it simply stops working (even on balanced / power saver it is very slow...).
At my wits end with this now and very close to throwing the SSD out of the window.... metaphorically.
Any other help would be appreciated.
Warm regards,
Demon -

it has to be an OS/program setting...it can't be a SSD fault. check every setting control panel, eco settings, intel wirelss, windows 7 power, samsung power. reinstall adapter if you have to

I would clone the known good Windows installation onto the SSD. Many of the SSD manufacturers provide a free cloning software.

Hey all,
thanks for the help but i ended up putting the old hard drive back in... The advantage of an SSD just was not apparent for me... the boot up time difference is notable admittedly but the actual use performance i would dare say inst much better! Battery life in my case was about an hour more (using a 7200mah battery)...
I know it is 99% a software problem but for the moment i need the laptop for business so cannot afford it to be down... Will probably throw the SSD in it next month at some point to try again but for the moment... good old mechanical drives ftw!
Thanks again for the help
Take care all,

does anyone else notice that the netbook can't play HD on netflix?
-
Plays Netflix and HBO (silverlight) just fine: I have noticed some intermittent wifi issues and they seem to have accentuated after putting the SSD in, definitelty not bad as the poster above but something is going on, played with almost all wifi card settings, changing channel in router, wifi card power setting etc, new drivers etc. and while some of these changes help, it still slows down to very slow downloads speed every so often.
Need to get to the bottom of this, I refuse to believe the SSD could be the issue as in my case it's a Samsung 7mm SSD (that I paid a premium for) which fits exactly in place of the original HDD (rubber sleeve and all) so that's not an issue. -
May I know will bigfoot killer N1103 compatible with this 11" laptop ?
-
Well my current theory for the wifi issue is that MAYBE the SSD is physically impeding the WIFI signal? I know its a long shot - But one of the antennas for the WIFI card goes directly underneath where the HDD sits... (or at least, its soldered to a small tab that goes underneath it). Could the plastic case of the SSD itself be somehow blocking signal to that little widget? ( I know - long shot... but its the only thing that i could think of...).
Regards,
Demon -
Shouldn't be, I've moved mine to the side of the drive and the drive is still enclosed in a rubber sleeve.
The signal strength shown on mine does not vary, just the actual download speed goes down.
I'll test it with a zero-footprint usb 'nano' adapter and see, the SSD makes a great difference in usability so can't take that out, this may be the best compromise solution.
Also, the black and white antenna wires originate from the pci-e lan card and terminate in the housing, the black wire goes either on the side or slightly underneath the HDD sleeve but is not soldered there (can't be as it is all sleeved, nothing exposed to be soldered to) so not sure what you mean by soldered underneath the HDD? -

I don't have netflix but HBO high-def (also silverlight) works fine as does Hulu (flash).
I use Chrome. I do think this lil guy has enough processing power to play 99.9% of all video files, it's got HT enabled as well. -

Is the CPU (Intel i3) not upgrade-able for this laptop ?

i dont know...that is interesting idea

I just don't get why they didn't kept it simple with the original "disable pad while typing" (ish, or something similar, as i don't remember precisely the actual function name) function, and had to complicate it massively, even for advanced user.. Ain't corporate world magnificent? lol
-
so are 9mm SSD a no go with this laptop? Can we compile a list of SSD that fit on this?
-
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
John -
But you're buying new, just get a 7mm, easier that way.

John, that thread is really old. I know crucial has a 7mm version of the M4. Prices are plummeting but maybe I should really wait for a 256GB before making the jump, they are faster and I wouldn't have to worry about running out of space. -
HopelesslyFaithful Notebook Virtuoso
yea wait for 256...any lower you are cutting corners to not max space...plus you don't have a second bay for another hardrive.
-
Sure, 256 is much better than <128, but all you need to do is better manage your drive.
I have a 96GB Vertex2 with more than i need installed and still have ~40Gb free. Only thing that become different to me is instead of backing up download data every 2 months or more, i started doing it every week, but even that's not a bad thing, just got me more serious in backing up and protecting my data.. Or you can look at it as an hassle, your choice. lol
Hopeless, cool heatsink mod btw.. You one crazy dude! -

If setFSB worked with the series 3 11.6" i would have started overclocking my netbook and see if i could mod the netbook at all but its pointless because it doesn't work. Someone said you can't overclock SB but i dont know why.
Series 3 11.6" with i3 - np300u1a - anyone else have one?
