    Greetings,

I am very interested in the new Series 7 17" model, but have a question: I really would like to replace the HD with a SSD. Will this void the warranty? This is what I seemed to understand from the Samsung website, given that you have to take it apart...

Also, if anyone has done this... how hard is it?

Yesterday I saw the 15" model in person, and really, really like this line. (17" compared to G75 -- want to get mini-Displayport) But I'm troubled by the warranty issue.

    Thanks!

Samsung discourage people from dismantling their notebooks, perhaps because of the risk of unintentional damage.

However, plenty of us have been inside to change components and sometimes people have gone on to need warranty service for some other problem such as the "bricking" issue.

    There are two basic rules:
    (i) Proceed carefully and do no damage
(ii) Restore the hardware to the configuration provided by Samsung before requesting warranty service.

Follow those two rules and expect no problem - there are no seals to indicate unauthorised access.

See the threads for the 15" Series 7 for guidance on the swap.

    John

Thanks! That is what I was hoping... and not any hidden gotcha stickers which could not be mended.
