Dear All,
After what has been a very frustrating week I would like to take matters in my own hands and escalate things as far as possible until I get a fix for my 14 inch Samsung Series 7. My model number is : Samsung NP700Z3C-S02UK
When I first bought the laptop I thought I had the greatest jewel in my hands. I admired its looks, screen, keyboard but especially the fact that it was very silent which is crucial in my line of work.
Unfortunately, after updating BIOS to the most recent version P04ABJ all hell broke lose. The fan is on non-stop even in power-saving mode using integrated graphics. Not only is the fan on but it's making white noise which makes it impossible to concentrate on my work. I have read exhaustively this forum and I have seen other people complaining about excessive noise in their Samsung Series 7.
This thread discusses attempts to roll-back the BIOS :

This thread offers videos of the kind of fan noise the newest BIOS update brings :

Unfortunately rolling back the BIOS has proved impossible for me. The WinFlash tools complains : Warning: Security mechanism not supported. Please get correct capsule.
The store I bought it from agreed to pick up my laptop and offer a brand new identical one. Unfrunately this new laptop was already updated to the newest BIOS version.
Right now I see only two ways to solve this problem:
1) Somebody from Samsung offering an official/unonfficial solution to downgrade BIOS. The solution just needs to work. I'm still sure it's possible to downgrade but the instructions need to come from someone who understand the new .cap files which have replaced the .rom files in windows 8.
2) Samsung releasing a new BIOS firmware that fixes the ridiculous fan always on issue.
In either case I would like to raise this issue to Samsung support as I have seen people have done in the past on this forum. If you have similar problems with excessive noise from the fan or you know how to get a hold of someone from Samsung support please write in this thread.

I don't think I had the latest bios.
Have you used hwmonitor or any other temperature problem to verify your temps?
Did the new laptop do the exact same thing? -
The new laptop unfortunately came with the latest BIOS installed.
The temperatures are excellent. The BIOS just lowered the temperature at which the fan kicks in so that the fan is always on. Before the computer was dead silent, it was pretty amazing!
After using it more , I found a compromise solution. The annoying buzzing sound comes up only when the laptop is sitting on a hard surface. When I use it in my bedroom I put the laptop on a towel which silences it. Heat is really not a problem with this laptop, it shouldn't have the fan running all the time.
I love everything else about it though. The keyboard is better than my desktop keyboard, the screen resolution is amazing, the design is like a macbook pro without the price tag. I think I'm going to keep this laptop and home that the next BIOS update fixes the fan always on problem. -
Have you tried enabling silent mode?
Have you gone into power options advanced and changed from active to passive cooling? -
I suggest calling Samsung tech, start a claim, and complain with your issues, but do not send your laptop for replacement. When my SS9 was released with a poor BIOS which forced me to roll back the BIOS (I started the roll back thread and solution for some laptops), it took Samsung about 2-3 weeks to release a new fixed BIOS and they even removed the bad bios from their website (8 of the 10 bios are available on their site, i guess they do listen and remove the bad ones once corrected).
Series 7 - Excessive FAN Noise After BIOS update - impossible to downgrade BIOS. HELP!
