Been thinking that if I take the plunge and get one of these (not likely till the 7970m version is out) then I'll probably want to replace the HDD's with SSD's.

I know that currently it works with 2 HDD's and an 8GB SSD cache so if I want to remove all of that and put 2x 256GB Crucial M4's, can I simply remove the 2 HDD's and cache?

Would anyone buy these separately or are they specific to Samsung laptops?

just to add to the OP,
what brands are known to work excellent and smoothly, and I guess cheap if possible??

I have the Samsung SSD 128GB in mine at the moment.

Crucial is the cheapest & most reliable.

Series 7 has just 1 hdd bay. How to put 2 drives?

I'm not sure if that's correct.

From my understanding there are 2x750GB HDD's in there so there must be 2 HDD bays

I would recommend you to search more before purchasing.

Chronos 14 = 1 hdd bay (any version)
    Chronos 15.6" = 1hdd bay (any version)
    Chronos 17.3" = 1hdd bay (any version)

17.3" is the biggest one & it still has one hdd bay. Maybe you are willing to remove your DVD drive & place another hdd in place of dvd-rom drive in caddy. Then you can place two hard disk, else no way. But in this case, you will lose your dvd-rom.

For your reference, here is a detailed hdd replacement video of 17.3" model by Paul.

Sorry I am referring to the Series 7 Gamer, G7A or G7C. I dont see how they could possibly have a single HDD bay with 2 HDD's running in there?

    Oh, Sorry.

I was assuming that you are looking for Chronos. yes, Gamer series has dual HDD.

My bad, I couldn't get this from this line too "not likely till the 7970m version is out"

    Sorry.
