So I decided to finally update the bios and graphics driver on my 17" 770. Everything works fine, but the fan is noticeably louder since the update. Not LOUD, but not whisper quiet like it was. Still running just Intel graphics on 2d desktop apps. I did them one after the other, so don't know which was the culprit. I thought I had a Win restore point, but somehow goofed it up -- so no easy roll back to prior AMD.

    Any suggestions?

You can use Task Manager to see if there is significant CPU utilisation under light usage (if so, which programs?) and use HWiNFO to check the temperatures.

My suspicion would fall on the BIOS update changing the rules for fan operation. It is possible to downgrade the BIOS as discussed here.

Thanks! I use Process Explorer regularly -- don't see anything different or unusual. I was thinking the same about the bios. Not sure how to go about finding the old bios file, given HWupdate only allows access to the new one it installed.

See the BIOS roll-back thread. Start at the first post.
