I just downloaded and installed the latest firmware for my Series 7 Chronos 15.6" laptop. Anyone have any clue what it fixes? I can't tell if anything was fixed after installing it. According to the file name of the update, it was released 12/5/2011.
Here is the download link for the firmware for those who don't have it.

You can also get it by installing the Samsung Bios Update Utility program from the Samsung Series 7 Chronos page. That program just checks for the latest bios update and then installs it.

I havent installed it yet!
But wondering the same thing!!!
No Description or release notes, nothing other than the version no!
My current bios is 03FD -
I've updated and I don't see any difference in BIOS (nothing about graphics). Wondering what changed...
-
Yeah also installed it, also installed the previous 09FD.
Only thing I noticed from 03 to 09/10 is that the brightness sensor is faster/more sensitive.
But I disabled it anyway after testing so no changes for me^^ -
Is this machine still running bios tech?
-
UEFI? 10chars
-
i got my laptop today it was preinstalled wtih 10FD
now there is a 11 version of it... -
Yeah right. Anyone tried this new 11FD bios?
-
Just did. Didn't notice anything new in the bios.
-
Just installed it aswell, didn't notice anything different, but only checked really quick. Perhaps it's related to things like those who get BSOD when playing videos on battery etc?
-
Is there a changelog on bios 11?
-
-
Have updated to 11FD, no changes, but I also had no issues before.
And the customer Service guys are always useless -

Yeah no offense meant, they can only rely on the info they get.

BIOS updated to 11FD.
I think i've spotted a change: when there's a sufficient light, the keyboard is not backlit anymore, and if you hide the light sensor with your finger, the backlit come back.
Is it just me ? -

Where can you dl the latest firmware? I cant find it on the official samsung website
-
-
The latest firmware is 11FD.
-
Nope I have 12FD since a week now... (German S7)
-
Hmm the updater (actual bios updater in korean) crashes on the installing bios part. Thank god its before it actually modifies the BIOS.
I must say samsung really did something wrong with this computer. Even the bios is a sorry piece of ... -
-
Version 12 nw shows up as the update im getting but it still gives me: winflash has stopped working everytime it try to update. Then it says the comp needs to restart to complete the installation. It restarts normally and doesnt do anything to the bios.

Whats the changelog for 10-12?
-
I`ve got a german Version of the Chronos S7.
Changes in 11FD are made for a better system stability. Seen on the german support page. -
Cant flash in safe mode as it says that it requires easy display setting.
What the hell was samsung thinking when they had this bios built?
Between the ati card and this crappy bios/ motherboard i'm really enjoying the samsung experience -
-
Try to disable "Disable execute Bit" within Bios, then update should work.
-
-
I meant the link to the support page where he found a changelog...
I have 12FD, so it wont find an update^^ -
-
Interesting for me, this easy software manager software said to me that 11FD is the newest bios. When I use the BiosUpdater downloaded from the US Website then I can download 12FD.
In my opinion the easy software manager is holy crap. ;-) -
Winflash crashes because the bios is protecting itself from all bios changes, not just the evil ones at is says in the bios
-
Hi all,
I just bought this laptop and i try to uptade the bios to 12FD.
This went wrong (process freeze) after the korean part and now the laptop won't boot anymore
What can i do to fix this ?
Thx all and excuse my bad english -
Whoa, just updated BIOS to 13FD via Samsung Software Manager. No noticeable changes, at least for the all-important graphics issue.
-
There will never be a bios fix for the current generation S7 that fixes the switchable graphics. It is impossible due to current hardware limitations, so no need to install new bioses if that is what you are hoping for.

Don't try to fix what isn't broken... -
It is like preventative maintenance. Why should I change the oil in my car if my car is running fine? -
I never update any firmware or drivers unless I feel that it's needed, and I seem to have alot less problems than those that update firmware and drivers as soon as they get the chance...
If it works, why try to fix it? Chances are that you will just break something. Especially when it comes to computers. -
13FD ready to download

I'm using 13FD on my SS Series 7, and I cant find any bluetooth device ? Is there any problem ? Help me pls
-
I not sure to install this update.
It Is better to the older one? -

Samsung seriously needs to post a changelog. That is expected and standard for most manufacturers.
