No, Samsung hasn't given a US release date, but contrast what they said about the US:

With what they said about certain other countries:

Sounds to me like it's coming to the US.

Looking at it from the side (follow the link above for a gallery), it's a profoundly beefy machine--like G74 and M17x beefy--but the cooling system looks comparable to those machines as well, which is great. And it's got nice mature styling, save for the red WASD keys. Stats remain great:

lol, I'm really not too fond of carrying a brick around anymore. Bought a Asus G1 years ago, 7lbs because of the gaming experience...been there, done that. Not doing it ever again

That's a lot of potency in a nice little package with a 17" display.

The 6970m in that Samsung will soundly defeat anything ASUS currently makes.

If you want that much power, its going to be around 7lbs or more even in a 15". In a 17", 8lbs is about right.

If you must have a <6lb laptop then your GPU and gaming takes a nosedive.
That 6970m will give around double (or more) the performance of the light laptops with the 6750m for a ~3lb drop in weight.

If you are not looking for GPU potency, then obviously Samsung has a better choice for you (the one with the 6750m should be good enough). However, if you want to truly game, the 6970m is an amazing choice.

I wonder what the price will be...

Based on the $1149 price tag of the 15.6", 900p, 6750-equipped Series 7, I'm guessing about $1800 with no 3D screen?
