Most projectors I encounter still mostly use VGA as the video interface, IMO this cable should have been included with the Series 9.

In the quick start manual there is a mini hdmi to vga adapter shown as optional which looks very similar in form to the lan adapter, so I believe (hope) that it will become available soon.

I had a chat with Samsung and of course they couldn't find it, also called samsung parts and he couldn't find it either and stated that often samsung shows options that are not available yet in the manuals. Here is a link I found that might be the adapter.

In the meantime I am ordering a usb 2.0 to vga adapter. Below are some links to look at. Make sure you don't get something with a display port connector as it will not work. Also a cable from hdmi to vga will not work as this requires hardware to perform a conversion from an analog to a digital signal.

I will report back once I have received my adapter.

I bought a mini-HDMI to HMDI cable from monoprice for about $7. At home I also have an HDMI to VGA adapter so I used them together to play 1080p video on my big TV. It's perfect.

I looked for an adapter that went from hdmi to vga and only found this one, which is out of stock.

What kind of adapter do you have and where did you get it?

    Hi,

Sorry mine was not hdmi to vga, but hdmi to dvi. However, there're dvi to vga adapters too (my company gives those out for us to use).

So I have received and installed this usb 2.0 to vga adapter.

    Newegg.com - SABRENT USB-2011 USB 2.0 to DVI/HDMI/SVGA Display Adapter (2048x1152)

I chose this adapter because it has full HD. It works so far with no lag on 720p video. Max resolution is 2048x1152. As far as I can tell there is no footprint from any software, seems to load up as a plug and play device.

Had to get new drivers from website though b/c drivers that came on CD caused BSOD on Windows 7 64bit. But after installing newer drivers everything seems to work great so far.

    No problem.

Be careful with DVI to VGA cables etc. Particularly, hdmi->dvi->vga will NOT work. Several DVI ports have provisions to carry an analog signal (DVI-I and DVI-A), while I believe HDMI does not, it is purely digital.

Yeah I have found several links for a similar type of "dongle".

Previously samsung was not able to confirm that it was indeed the part and they were out of stock everywhere.

Today I was chatting with samsung and they confirmed it was indeed the correct part.

    I am ordering one today.

    @Javy

Can you give the full part number? I'm on the phone with J&J Parts and they can't find the item.

    @ayodeji13
You want the "Series 9 VGA Dongle" part # AA-AH0NAMB/US

If you can find it online, it'll probably be cheaper than J&J (as their shipping is not cheap too). Click here

A couple of weeks ago, I used to see many stores listed. I can't even find this on www.samsungparts.com (which is J&J).

FYI. As I posted elsewhere, this VGA dongle works very well.

I have a problem with my VGA-output. When I use the projector with the Micro-HDMI to VGA cable from Samsung, the notebook loses the signal from time to time which is quite annoying. There's also no image on the notebook screen. So i have to reactivate it by moving my mouse or pressing a key. It's like a small standby.

    Can anyone help?

I got the official samsung Micro HDMI to VGA adapter but it will only go up to 1280x1024. Anyone else hitting this limitation?

Bringing in some Wisdom From John (the best kind!) from another thread to here:
I notice that the "AA-AV1N12B" micro-VGA-to-full-VGA adaptor is officially for the Series 7 but 'the web' claims it works with the 9 too. There is indeed a AA-AV2N12 which, as far as I can tell, is specifically for the S9. Has anyone yet tried the AA-AV1N12B and/or the AA-AV2N12B? Any idea of its performance? I can get my hands on a AA-AV2N12B but it's significantly more expensive and more important, takes weeks to be delivered.

New to this forum, but when I was looking for a display port lead for my series 9 notebook I saw this thread which helped with the model numbers I may need.

    Anyhow,
Model number AA-AV2N12B was in stock and I can report back that it works great.

I needed this lead as I wanted to run one display via HDMI and another via the display port, and have the two displays set up in extended desktop mode, which I can also report works just fine (please note: the notebooks built in display will be off in this kind of setup)

I also got the AA-AV2N12B and it works great, no problems with up to 1080p and all beamers I've used it on. I also have a micro-HDMI to HDMI which also works fine with my TV and monitors on 1080p.

Not cheap but the original parts seem to work very well at least...

    Good to know!

I just bought a 900X4D myself and I really think that Samsung should have included a dongle or two...

Well, fast forward ti april 2015 and uta still not easy to find these things, oddly the hardest place to get it is from Samsumg itself . Their site says out of stock and no pointers on where to find them for sale.

Thanks to those above for their helpful research and posts.

Seems there are 3 options; USB to vga, MINIHDMI to VGA, and the screen port miniVGA to VGA.

On my Samsung NP9003XC-AO4AE (last 5 digits just mean it's the model released for the UAE) which I bought 2 or 3 years ago has only 2 USB ports so I am reluctant to use those for screen connection.

My situation is thta i already have a miji HDMI to HDMI connector whcih is all i hoped i would ever need. Alas, i will now need to use my laptop for a presentation and finally have a need for VGA compatibility, as very few of the data projectors currently sitting in meetings rooms and venues I am like to visit are yet to move to HDMI....

Have chosen the vga to VGA option, and as I am in Europe, amazon.de was the most feasible option, and digitec don't seem to have it here in Switzerland. ..

on amazon.de It's possible to pay either euro 113.95 from Samsung, it seems, or euro 68.89 from another seller on amazon. I just ordered the cheaper of the two, hoping there is no catch. Will let you know.

    The part i ordered isAA-AV2N12

Those are rediculous prices caused by scarcity. This price is more reasonable.

Stocks won't have been replenished since Samsung stopped selling notebooks in Europe last year and prices of whatever is still available will either be high (someone cashing in on the scarcity) or low (clearing of stock which could otherwise remain unsold).

Thanks Super Moderator, for 13 pounds for a seemingly genuine Samsung product, I snapped that one up as a spare. last one, sorry chaps.
While it does illustrate the importance of looking around, i have spent about 2 hrs already when I bought one for 69 euro, giving in to mz exhaustion, frustration and need to get one quicklz that had a high probability of working (as some reports out there are of dodgey connection etc from the non genuine ones=.
