    Hey all,

Does anybody know about getting hold of service manuals for Samsung laptops? I'm looking to replace the hard drive on my Q210 and I'd like to know about any tips, tricks and traps before I open it up fully....

There is no need for a "secret" or not secret service manual to exchange the HDD.

I changed the HD in my Q210 an it was very easy. Just unscrew the plastic door with the "HDD" marking on it. You have to pull this plastic door carefully to get it of. You see the HDD in a frame. Carefully unplug the hdd. The HDD has standard SATA and SATA power plugs for 2.5 HDDs, so you should just know how to unplug it...

That actually works? That's a relief - I gave up on trying to remove the cover after it appeared to be flexing the frame that the HD sat in. I had assumed that it could only be removed by accessing the drive from the top of the case as well.

Will give it a go again and see what happens...

    Thanks!

Yes changing the HDD is really easy!

After removing the 2 screws from the HDD door you have to "move / slide" this lid to the outside of the notebook. This may be a little difficuilt if you do it first time since there is a little resistance to get this lid away. You can use a small screwdriver in the slot of the lid <-> notebook case new the air ventilation holes and try to move the lid if you have the scresdriver in this smal slot....
If you have the lid away it is only necessary to remove the HDD from the SATA plug.
Than you have to change the HDD in the HDD frame and you plug the new HDD with the frame into the SATA plug and than you have to reinstall the lid.

If you need pictures I'd take a few if it helps...

It would still be nice to have a service manual that shows how to access the CPU for upgrading or changing the thermal paste, or replace the keyboard.

Changing the keyboard is also easy :). On the bottom you have to unscres the screws marked with "KBD". Should be 3... Than you have to "unlock" the 3 small bolts. Bst to do is using a small screwdriver. The 3 bolts are on the bottom of the "Fn" key, the left middle of the space bar, and the windows key.

And to answer your basic question, I don't think there is a service manual in public available...
