    Since the surrounding illumination is bright, the keyboard backlight cannot be adjusted? (Series 7)

    Anyone else getting this message from time to time when trying to either raise or lower the keyboards backlight?
    Under Easy Settings, Display, the auto screen brightness is disabled.

    This is the second time that this has come up.

    I'm running a Series 7 700Z5A (US)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2675QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
    2.20 GHz
    8.00 GB Installed memory

    To explain further,
    I've both been in my office with lights on and windows open (daytime) as well as being in the kitchen at night with all kitchen lights on and I have stil been able to control the backlit keyboard. Not sure why this is coming up now.

    Yeah, I get that on occasion also. I haven't done this myself, but you might try covering the ambient light sensor - it is to the left of the hard drive activity indicator.
