Hi, I have been searching around for a new laptop and I am really leaning towards the Samsung Series 7, since it has a pretty decent graphics card, nice design, and backlit. But when I started searching around for laptop, almost every place has it sold out or is no longer available. Why is the case? and I live in the US. Also do you guys think that samsung will release new laptops since the ivy bridge processors for coming really soon. Also when searching around, some reviews say that the palm rest is really sharp and it hurts your wrist? is it really that bad? Thank you for the responses.

From what I've heard, the hard drive shortage is a result from the flooding in Thailand which has been one of the biggest factors in the low stock quantities for the Series 7 Chronos. It took me a long time to find one, but it was worth it. I really think that the fact that there is such high demand and low quantities is why you are having trouble finding one.

I don't think you'll see many ivy bridge notebooks until mid-2012, although you'll probably see quite a few announcements at CES for the products. Release dates for those products will be some time down the road.

I've had no problems with the palm rests. When I first got it, I even tried to force my palms down to see if it might be a bother in the future but it felt comfortable and still does.

In the US the Microsoft Store is having a 25% off deal for the Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5AH 6gb ram 15.6 inch screen. They offered to swap out the 2gb ram for a 4gb ram to equal 8 total gb of ram ($50) and swap them out for free (which anyone with some knowledge of a screwdriver can do themselves). Total cost me less than $999, but their sale for 25% off any laptop over $1000.00 ends January 2nd.

    Regarding "sharp palm rests"...erroneous.

I just went to the microsoft store, and I didn't see the series 7, there was only the Samsung SF411 and the series 9. When did you bought your series 7?

I went to the store in Washington on the 12th of December.

I called the Microsoft store's direct number and asked if they had the specific model in their store before I went in and picked it up.
