Hello all my partition table fubared and I couldnt fix it with Vista repair so I had to just freshly install it, all well and good except that it would seem that when Vista boots now, it switches the backlight off. This also happens when I use the Fn key to drop backlighting below 50%, and then the backlight won't switch back on again without me first setting it above 50% (despite backlight still being off) and then using the "backlight on/off" softkey
Any ideas why this is happeninG?

This looks to be some power management problem. At what stage of boot-up does the backlight get turned off? Also check for backlight brightness option in the BIOS.

Did you install all the latest drivers and software? I see they include some hotfixes. There's also a new BIOS (two versions - I don't know which is better).

I had this problem when I used drivers from Laptopvideo2go. I solved it by installing the driver's on the restore disk, as well as the 'graphics patch' which is also on the disk.

    Hi.

I had a similar problem, Samsung display manger was getting itself confused, I don't no why, but if you go to the start menu and find the Samsung directory and select display manager options, you can un-tick "reset backlit on" and that seemed to fix it for me.

I wish the backlight had more smaller brightness levels, as it`s either to bright or too dark.

    Regards

    John.

I had the exact same problem, but I had not done a clean install of vista. It was only after reinstalling vista that the problem went away.
It may be to do with some of samsungs software, try using the Samsung Updater to see if your missing anything..

OK I fixed it by installing the Samsung drivers followed by the Samsung patch, I'm going to reinstall the laptopvideo2go drivers and see if the problem comes back.
