I'm not planning on gaming on this laptop since I have a desktop for that but tried out StarCraft II. It ran pretty well on medium settings (70-80fps). The temperatures (on the CPU cores and "TZ00" and "TZ01" on HWMonitor) hit high 85+ degrees Celsius, however. Even hitting 90 on occasion. I have the back of the laptop lifted up over an inch to let air flow, I'm not using a notebook cooler yet.

Are temps this high normal for this laptop? Idle temps are around 48-52 C for all four cores.

When gaming with Intel HD instead of the Nvidia GT 630M, the gaming temps don't go higher than mid-70s.

Has anyone modified it by perhaps changing the thermal paste or something?

On intel site, if you search for the CPU specs, it says that Max temperature is around 100 or something. So, no problem for that matter. But if you are planning to use to play a lot, and it will heat up alot, I would advise you to buy a good notebook cooler, because with high temps, pc components wear faster... Specially the battery. In the Li-Ion batteries the main problem for fast wear-out is high temps.
