36 views? come on one of you must have some sort of input

My guess is that no one else have those problems. Atleast I don't. And it really doesn't feel like its a hardware issue either, so I am guessing you installed something that messed things up. Or perhaps changed some setting by misstake, but no idea which, since I've never seen or heard about anything like this before.
-
well this laptop is straight out of the box so i haven't installed anything that would affect this sort of thing. the thing is that i've googled this problem and on other computers there are simple, simple ways to fix this problem but i cannot find a way to do the same on my computer.
-
I never heard anything simillar to this, so something is wrong. Perhaps just call where you bought it and ask them, and possibly get it replaced if it brand new.

I'm a little unclear exactly what your problem is. Could you explain it better.
Most touchpads have a "palm check" option to briefly disable it while people are typing (otherwise the cursor may move if, for example, a thumb accidentally brushes the touchpad).
John -
it's alright, i figured it out. i found some elan drivers on google that fixed the problem
-
I'm having this problem too while playing games.
It seems to be an intended feature to stop the user dragging the mouse about while typing.
However the control panel settings for the current drivers I have (10.0.7.3)
don't seem to have an option to disable this (if there is, they have done a top job on hiding it).
Palm tracking should be enough, I feel this additional feature to disable all movement whilst any typing is taking place seems a bit much.
Could you link me to the place you acquired the alternative drivers or if that not allowed could you quote me what I should Google to find it, thanks in advance. -
i just typed in ' samsung NP305E5A-A01US touchpad ' and the elan drivers popped up.
-
Thanks for the response however using an old driver just doesn't sit well with me.
so..... I've had a play and found the correct registry entry to change.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Elantech\OtherSetting\DisableWhenType_DelayTime_Move
mine was "5dc" which is hexadecimal for 1500 or one and a half seconds.
I set it to 0 and rebooted and now I can hold down keys and continue to use the touch-pad.
I thought at first the registry entry "DisableWhenType_Enable" was the way to tackle this but changing this had no effect, this may be why we don't have a tick box for this option in our control panels yet. Hopefully they fix this and add this feature soon.
Hope this helps someone.

Has anyone had success using alt+tab while dragging? It works for me on other systems, but not this one. An example use case is dragging something from one application, using alt+tab to switch to another for the release. Pressing alt+tab kills the drag on the Samsung.
-
You should be able to drag to other applications by holding the object over the right program on the taskbar at the bottom.
-
Yes, that works but is not something I remember to do on this system.

I have disable two finger scrolling because of the delay. I instead have enabled the option for the right side of the trackpad to do one finger scrolling which is immediate.
I dont want to have to hack the registry to be able to scroll without a delay. -
After finish scrolling, I noticed that we still have to tap once to stop scrolling.

Ok, I've been poking around the registry settings and found some usefull stuff
Go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Elantech\UIFunctionOption
Change the value for "UI_Theme" to 0 or 1 to get more options in the UI.
I like the version for "1".
It gives you options for 3 finger tapping, changing the click modes (left and right), palm tracking, and sensitivity!
Make sure to have the "Mouse" control panel closed. If you have it open, close and re-open then go to the Elan settings.
Version 2 is for DELL and doesn't work. I think it expect another app to be there to change settings.
Version 3 is UltraNav ??
Version 4 is the default samsung settings
Anything 5 or above gives you the same as "0" -
Excellent!! Thank you very much!
-
Fantastic! Nice sleuthing.

Just found something: regardless of what theme you have selected in the registry, you can directly launch themes 1 and 4 via the exes in \Program Files\ElanTech.
Theme 4 is C:\Program Files\Elantech\ETDSimpleUI.exe.
Theme 1 is C:\Program Files\Elantech\ETDAniConf.exe. -
-
This means Elan drivers will possibly employ filtering techniques from now on. -
Hi all,
Just picked up my Chronos a few days ago and been fiddling around with the mouse. The auto-update sucked so I went only and found a driver version 10.7.6.2 WHQL. I've found that I cant move the cursor while typing. It seems to be a problem some other people have and I can't find a way to get it to work.
I've tried regedit. I've set all of the following values to 0 but no luck yet:
Elantech/Smartpad/
DisableWhenType_AllArea
DisableWhenType_DelayTime_Gesture
DisableWhenType_DelayTime_Move
DisableWhenType_DelaTime_Tap
DisableWhenType_Enable
I also tried setting Elantech/UIFunctionOption/UI_Theme to 0 but that didn't do anything so I set that back to 4.
Anyone know any way to set things so that I can use the trackpad while typing? Or is there a version of the driver that might be better? -
Change the TouchPadRejection_Display value from 255 to 1 at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPadDisplay. Then start ETDAniConf.exe. On the Additional tab, disable rejection. (I have 10.7.11.5 installed.)
-
I found that for me on my RV520 (which shipped with just terribly buggy old Elan drivers) that I've updated to 10.7.6.2, I can set
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPad
"DisableWhenType_Enable"=dword:00000000
And I just tested it and it will stick through reboots. -
-
Using the latest driver with no luck on anything above, anybody find any other solutions?

1) regedit.exe 2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Elantech\GroupOption\GroupMap_ETD0B00\SmartPad
EDIT: Although that directory works, I found it didn't fix my problem. Here's my solution:
Get an older driver. For whatever reason, the latest one seems to create too many problems and the older one simply works better. Heck, it even looks better! Here's a link to the download that worked for me:
ElanTech Touchpad Driver 8.0.7.0 - TechSpot Drivers -
Hi. I have the same problem with disabled touchpad. I tried most of your solutions - nothing works.
1. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\ there is no "Elantech" folder.
However, "DisableWhenType..." keys are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Elantech/SmartPad and I set everything to 0.
Nope. doesn't work.
2.
This is the main reason, why I am fighting with regedit.exe...
My driver version is 11.14.1.3_WHQL.
Is is the only one that works with Windows 8 gestures, so I don't really feel like reinstaling it. I tried to fix that windows on the first place, but this is hopeless. -

Did you do a registry search for "DisableWhenType" to see if there is another set of the entries? I'm finding that string in all these places on my Windows 7 X4C:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\GroupOption\SmartPad
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPad
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Elantech\GroupOption\GroupMap_ETD0B00\SmartPad

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Elantech\SmartPad
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Elantech\GroupOption\GroupMap_ETD0B00\SmartPad
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\Elantech\GroupOption\GroupMap_ETD0B01\SmartPad

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Elantech\GroupOption\GroupMap_ETD0B01\SmartPad
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Elantech\SmartPad

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2273624540-2494411189-709609350-1000\Software\Elantech\SmartPad
I wonder if Elantech can't make up their minds where to put their entries.
I'm not an expert on how the registry works but I would expect the current user and current control set entries to be the most important.

Code:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2273624540-2494411189-709609350-1000\Software\Elantech\SmartPad
I have no idea, but this is the only one key that I had similar to your list and it worked. Thanks!
