Hey guys,
i have read the Win 8.1 topic but I don't think my problem comes from an update since well... I didn't update my laptop ahah.
Anyway, here's the problem:
I bought the computer 3 days ago from Amazon. I have a 30 days warranty so if there is something wrong, I will send it back.
The first day, the computer worked fine but yerterday the mouse cursor freezed about 4 times in an hour or 2 from 3 to 15 secs. I have tried Fn + F5. It fixed the problem the first time but not after. Everything else works except the cursor.
I have checked the driver, it's up to date. Had freezing issues with the mouse software as well. It was freezing for whatever reason. (I was doing a Malwarebytes Scan but I mean, it's not supposed to make your computer freeze!)
I restarted the computer after installing 17 updates. (Could not say which ones, Win 8 didn't say) The mouse software was working fine although I find the computer is a bit long sometimes to run a program. (I suspect it comes from the hard drive who only got a 4,7 grade from Microsoft)
I had an issue again with the cursor. Froze for about 2 secs and came back. I installed another 53 updates but didn't check the computer since then.
I could not tell you exactly how and when it happens, it's very random.
Do you think it could be an hardware problem?
Thanks![]()

Exactly which version of the NP270E5E (include the last 5 digits) and which CPU? Which touchpad and driver version?
Two possibilities are (i) high CPU or disk utilization are causing temporary blockages. Task Manager may reveal if this is happening; or (ii) the touchpad driver is not responding properly. 18 months ago the Elan driver could be a little unresponsive at times (I raised the priority of the Elan processes in Task Manager which helped a little) but further updates have fixed this.
It is unlikely to be the hardware but we need to debug the software.

Model is X06FR (bought in France)
CPU: Core i5 3230M
Touchpad is from Synaptics. I think this is the 7.5 version. I don't have my laptop in front of my eyes at the moment unfortunately. I have checked for updates using Windows and SW from Samsung and I am up to date.
How do I access the Task Manager? I have checked the program that allows me to check the problems with softwares, hardwares etc. Nothing mentioning a problem with the touchpad though. Maybe I haven't looked for the right thing.
Thanks again! -

Interesting that you have a Synaptics pad which many people think is better than the Elan pad that Samsung put on their more expensive notebooks.
That CPU should not be a bottleneck - it's faster than the i7-3537U in my Series 9. I was concerned in case a Series 2 notebook was provided with a very slow CPU. However, if you happen to have enabled either Silent Mode or Eco Mode then the CPU will be running at only 800MHz.
You can get to Task Manager by right-clicking on the Task Bar.
