    Hi,

I'm currently unable to download drivers / software to my Samsung Series 9 15-inch notebook (NP900X4C-A01SE) with the "SW Update" application (in Windows 8 Pro). I'm getting error "Unable to connect to the server. Check the network for problems and try again." in the SW Update.

Otherwise my Internet connection seems to be working fine.

Also the SW Update installer download ( http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/SWUpdate.aspx) gives "Service Unavailable" page occasionally.

I'm wondering if it's a problem with my network provider or Windows 8 installation (I just re-installed Windows 8), or are others also having same issue? The problem has been ongoing for few hours already.

I have been able to download drivers before with SW Update and same computer (previous Windows installation).

Just keep trying, both the SW Update and ESM can be temperamental.

Did you have any luck with this in the end? I have been having the same problem. I bought an NP535U3C (Series 5) notebook and decided to upgrade to Windows 8. I had the same "Service Unavailable" page the first time I tried to download the "SW Update" tool, but the second time it worked (but was very slow). Now I've been sat here for about 30 minutes constantly re-trying to update my drivers etc. with the SW Update tool and constantly getting the "Unable to connect to the server ... " message.

Do you think this is Windows 8 related? I never tried to use the tool under Windows 7, so have no idea how reliable it is expected to be...

There's nothing wrong with your laptop' it's the server, some times it's down for quite a while.

What a pain! Guess all I can do is keep trying then. Thanks for the responses - though it was the OP who originally asked the question, but the responses have been helpful for me too. :)

Yes still not working for me either, but will keep trying. I'm pretty sure too it's the server as it has worked for me before in my previous Windows 8 installation. Also the "Service Unavailable" points to that direction.

Tried again this morning (08:30 GMT) and all is well. :)

I'm a happy bunny now as my Fn keys are back ("Settings" program) and all the Windows 8 touchpad gestures are now supported (along with the all-important scrolling ability)!

Yes started working for me too today, great. :) However was down quite long, without any warnings on their website, which is not very nice from Samsung.

When are they going to put the drivers and software on the download area if you want to manually download them?

Good question: Windows 8 drivers / software aren't listed for this model which is shipped with Windows 8. Is it another step on the path of trying to move things out of the control of end users? Or perhaps Samsung haven't yet got organised?
