I'm quite stumped here, so I need some advice. Originally, I was planning to get the Series 9 13". Right now its retail at $1299, but Samsung has a black friday deal for $1000. Very attractive. But I also want to get the WQHD version of the Series 9 b/c 1600x900 is kind of not enough for me. I mean its alright, but not sure if it'll be worth it. Should I just get the Series 9 for $1000? or should I wait and pay a premium price for the WQHD version (god knows when it comes out). Also, could somebody tell me if the 4gb ram is sufficient for light SCII gaming while having google chrome tabs open/listening to music and if the ram in the laptop is upgradeable?

If anybody's wondering, heres the link: Samsung All Deals
    The password is: samsungsneakpeek

THANKS! (I know this is all personal opinion, but I want some advice, haha)

NP900X3D-A01US on Samsung's BF for $1000 is not a good deal. That is the cheaper model with Sandy Bridge. If it is one of the Ivy Bridge i7 processor ones, I would grab it for $1000 in a heartbeat, closer to 2K on Amazon. Seeing how the 13" MBP retina with poor reviews for GPU intensive stuff, the SS9 WQHD would probably suffer the same. I generally don't wait because there is something always better in the next few months

Insert "is promised / is rumoured".
And personally I won't get excited by very hi-def displays until I know that both Windows and any applications I want to run can handle display scaling properly.

    1. When I follow your link and password it goes to a page with the 900x3D you mention and says it is on special sale until 12/23 but it's not clickable and when you go into their laptop page that model isn't there and everything they have is priced at straight retail

    2. It's not the 900X3D that's Sandy Bridge; that's the 900X3B. The 900X3C is IvB. What is the X3D??

I don't know why WQHD or Retina is a big deal. From what I understand a laptop with 13 or 15 inch display size when showing 2,880 x 1,800 pixel resolution means any UI visible on this kind of display is very very small for the eye. I think 1600X900 for 13 is maximum it should be and 1920×1080 for 15 inches but for me, the current Series 9 resolution is perfect.

The other major down side of high resolution is, when resolutions are lowered the display becomes blurry and unattractive for the eye.

I agree with isosunrise, high resolution means more GPU requirements. I am 90% sure Samsung will not put nVidia on Series 9. If they do, it will still be consumed by the high resolution making it same as HD3000 or HD4000 for other tasks.

Thus, if you are really looking for 13 inches screen and the processor is not Sandy Bridge ( some NP900X3D have it), then buying it for 1000 is good deal.

    Sandy Bridge:
    NP900X3D-A01US (on Samsung's BF page)
    NP900X3B-X

    Ivy Bridge:
    NP900X3C-A01US, i5, 128GB, W7
    NP900X3C-A04US, i7, 256GB, W7
    NP900X3D-A02US, i5, 128GB, W8
    NP900X3D-A03US, i7, 256GB, W8

Grab one of the Ivy's... $1200 on Amazon. $1000 for Sandy is not worth it.
