    What does it do?

It sets the power profile to balanced when using the mains adapter and when you run from the battery it changes the profile to power saver.

Ok, so it doesn't do anything extra that I can do with power saver myself ?

It does do other things such as dim the backlight after a period of inactivity - Windows only turns the backlight off completely.

If Easy Battery manager is installed then there will be an icon in the system tray (near the clock, etc).
