Installed the Tech Preview on an X3D with just touchpad driver and settings. Everything seems fine. Pretty much call it windows 8.2. Though I might like 8.1 with classic shell better.

I'm thinking I will probably feel the same way. I feel hitting the "all apps" in the new hybrid start menu that basically just ports a mini list of apps that scroll vertically from the start screen and still carries over that modern API style will not be as functional as classic shell's XP cascading start menu. Its been years since I have used XP but I have forgotten how killer XP's start menu was. Much better then windows 7. Classic shell gives you the choice of which one you want.

Funny with all the money and development that MS puts into its OS's the simple start menu from 2001 is the best UI design IMO. I know many will probably want to continue using classic shell with windows 10.

I just like how with classic shell I can have both a start menu and a start screen that I can easily switch between. W10 makes you pick one or the other. Though I suppose you can choose the start screen and still use classic shell so it's no biggie. I like using the modern apps in the start screen, not a pop up window.

Having a few issues with the touchpad not working after sleep and having to reboot to get control of the cursor again.

That's interesting. The pop up is the virtual window for modern to run on desktop. This is one of the biggest changes in W10. So do you like running modern apps in full screen? I'm sure you can maximize the window. From what I've seen I think it will scale about 6 different sizes.

I do agree that with all the changes with 8.1 being able to easily close modern apps and how they can be minimized to desktop and using classic shell it all works pretty well. I agree that MS should have put a shortcut for the start screen on the start menu without having to go into the options and turning off the start menu all together. But if you don't care for the virtual windows then it sounds like W10 may not be for you. About the only other thing is the ability to run multiple desktops.

Well, your beta testing this. I would send feedback to MS to put a shortcut for start screen within the start menu like classic shell does. I already pretty sure this hybrid start menu is not for me. I can only hope that classic shell still works on W10. The XP cascading style start screen is my long lost friend. I only just installed classic shell a few months ago and have not used XP since 2006. So I forgot just how good that start menu was and I am not readily giving it up.

I´v been running Windows 10 on my AB9+ and my 900x3c since the beginning of the preview period. Alot of bugs along the way but always useable. Always had one problem thou. When using 4-fingers swipe to show all apps, the keyboard starts opening apps and windows and all sorts of commandos when hitting keys. If i press the Windows button 2 times the keyboard starts working again as it should, and understands what window I´m in. Strange.
