Hi guys I am undecided with the series 7 and the hp envy 15. Given all the issues that has plagued this laptop, would you still recommend it to a friend?![]()
Are you satisfied with the screen or still wishing it was a little more?

From what I can tell there aren't any problems worth mentioning anymore.
Not the greatest viewing angles but screen is fine besides from that, with the ICC profile posted here the colors are good.
If I were to buy a new laptop today it would still be this or a macbook pro depending on how much cash you wish to spend. -
As per PM, I would recommend the HP Envy 15. However, since the Ivy Bridge refresh is impending, if you can hold off buying, then don't buy yet. Even current Sandy models will drop in price.

Thanks guys, looks like I'm going with the HP envy. I'm not very particular with the chipset because I just use it for work but I really have to have a good screen.
Is the trackpad in the Hp envy 15 still problematic after all the updates? -

surprised at myself that i m saying this, but i m really in love with its design n looks.

I think the smartest move would be to wait until the refresh is announced. Even if the refresh is not that much better you ll get better prices.
The chronos is very far from perfect but considering how uninteresting PCs are atm its still one of the best options -
I absolutely love the Series 7 hardware and specs. I bought the NP700Z5A-S0AUS, with the switchable graphics support, larger hard drive.
However, after owning it for one week, two disturbing problems:
- realized there's a problem with the graphics switching support. Im still waiting for a chance to try fixing it by installing alternate drivers, really disappointed that Samsung hasnt officially fixed this problem or addressed it. The tech guys at the Microsoft store told me there hadn't been any issues with this laptop as well (lie?).
- This morning, after moderate usage for 6 days, and no jarring motion or damage or drops to the hardware, the hard drive died. I started up the computer normally, a very loud variable speed buzzing sound came from the bottom of the case, buzzed around like a dying bug for a minute or two, and that was it. now when I power on, all I hear is clicking coming from the hard drive and it won't get past the POST stage during boot.
Taking it back to the Microsoft Store as soon as I close this post... for an exchange. Going to give it one more shot to try and fix the graphics switching issue, and if I dont get another bum hard drive, I'll be happy. -
I've had 4 different hard drives die in the last 3 years. Not doing anything different with my laptops that I know of, just seems like the hard drives aren't as long lasting anymore.
I've had my 15.6 series 7 for less than a week, but overall I am happy. Viewing angles are not great, mousepad is average at best, but overall a very good laptop for under a grand. Only other one I would consider would be the Sony Vaio S line. -
I don't have any problems with the GPU switching and consider it "fixed" after the latest drivers. And it was the only "problem" that I saw anyway.
Very happy with mine and I can't think of any other machine I'd have instead, including the HP Envy.
Would you still recommend a series 7?
