    Hi all

I have had an X60 for around a year. The screen sometimes just went off for no particular reason. Then if I shut the top of the laptop and opened it back up, the screen would come back on. Now the screen is not coming back on at all, even on start-up....

Has anyone got any ideas about what to do? It is a screen connection problem or maybe graphics card/chip?

    Thanks
    Worried X60 User

My first suspect would be the inverter for the backlight. If this is the problem then you should still be able to see something on the screen if you look from different angles under a bright light. I've had the problem with a previous notebook of the inverter stopping after several minutes of operation.

You can check the health of the overall graphics system by connecting an external monitor (you may need to use Fn+F4 to switch to the external display).

Great, thanks I will check it out. If it is the inverter, what is the solution to the problem?

The inverter would need to be replaced.

If you are still within warranty then contact Samsung technical support. If you are out of warranty then you would need to contact one of the Samsung service agents. Their details are on the Samsung UK website or in some of the threads here.
