Samsung just recently released several versions of the X60 now.

    Low Edition:
    http://www.studentbook.de/x60-t2300.html

    Medium Edition: (best buy)
    http://www.studentbook.de/x60-studentbook.html

    The note says:
This Notebook is the "winner" of our inquiry. In February we asked this yearly, how the new Studentbook is to look. Eight variants stood to the selection, whereby 58% of all asked ones set this Notebook on place 1 or place 2. And so kommt's: Samsung builds the Notebook exclusively for studying! * It will be available only here! Production started now. We count on the fact that the first load with 200 pieces beginning or in the middle of will land April in Germany. In May then further Notebooks is to be supplied, one (before)Bestellung is from now on possible. * And naturally also for pupils, university member and teacher.

High Power!: 4000$ Canadian  LOL
    http://www.studentbook.de/x60-t2600-becudo.html

Well i dunno what else to say... WOW!!! LOL, definately the X60 Student Book is a great option for Germany...i greatly advise it for all germans... and yes i have already inquired about warranty of german products for the UK, USA and Canada. They SAID NO!

If you buy a UK version it you can use Warranty in Canada, not sure about USA. Im pretty sure the UK version can recieve service in other European Countries.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

    Dude, that is so smooth.

THey added the X1600 256 to the book. The graphic card was the biggest weakness and now that has been solved.

Please don't forget that only students, teacher and other scholar persons can buy notebook(s) at Studentbook's. If you aren't one of the precalled you won't get the special models in the x60 series.

Has anyone bought the X60? If so, could they please comment on the battery life.

I'm thinking of moving up from my Asus W3A and see the X60 as a possible alternative to the Asus W3J. Both are about the same weight but the X60 has a bigger display (and smaller battery).

    Thanks,

    John

I am a student in Australia, can I sign upto that site and order from germany? lol

That sucks that they are only releasing the X60 student with the X1600 256mb in germany.. they should drop the intel 128 on the low model and replace with with the X1400 and replace the X1400 with the X1600 on the high end model..

    Annoyed!

In Abaxter's review, he said about six hours on the eight cell. I'd guess half that on the four cell. You can read the review here.

Please remember that studentbook.de doesn't ship notebooks outter Europe. The only way to get a notebook from studentbook.de is with help from a European.

And, this special X60 is available at studenbook's only!!

Nope, they can keep their "european" laptops. I bet they failed to comply with our strict FCC regulations. There has to be a good reason why they aren't in our country.

If I did get one, I would have to get a power converter, and deal with that mess. I decided to go with a nice Lenovo IBM Z60m. :)

    Thanks

For sure not. You can use your notebook (every brand) all over the world in all countries which have AC. The only thing you need is a fitting plug (costs: 1-2 EUR or Dollar)

And: TÜV has also very very strict restrictions ...

The problem which would remain is the wrong keyboard layout.
Luckily, I'm a student from Germany.
But this doesn't make it easier. I didn't find any information about the quality of the display.

The Display of the "Chane" version was rated as being very mirrorlike and dark. (german review: http://www.notebookjournal.de/tests/97). But this studentbook special edition seems to have the "Becudo" Display (same res).

Does anybody of you know, whether this is of better quality?

    Thanks

The special studentbook notebook has a glare panel, but it has an amazing resolution (1680x1050) based on SXGA+ technology.

yah i read that, and i was SURPRISED!!!! now that Samsung is producing High Res glossy screens, this could mean that other brands will have access to them, because most laptops are using a Samsung screen or something else :D!

Woot can't wait till we see more glossy high res screen.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

I have just received my Samsung X60 Studentbook.
It's rather dazzling to view at it :) Cost me 1135 pounds, and 1 month wait time. I am spellbound by it.

However... You can get a Fujitsu with very similar specs for 900 pounds (X1400 instead of x1600)
    Edit: In PC World UK.
