    1. Did you test the backlight in a dark room? There may be an ambient light sensor which turns the backlight off when the lighting is OK.
    2. Does your keyboard have backlight controls? (F9 & F10 on my NP900X4C). Have you tried using those (in a dark room).

    Thanks for your reply
yes i tried in Dark room? Not working, also there are F9 & F10 with keyboard sign on them so that means this model NP700Z5B-S01UB has backlight
all other FN + combination are working like screen brightness & volume control

I could swear that the original NP700Z5B did not have keyboard backlight. The symbol on the F9 and F10 is more of an illumination indicator (a flat horizontal bar with a crown of vertical ticks followed by a minus or plus sign) than a keyboard indicator.

Do you have a keyboard backlight control in Easy Settings. On my version it's on the General Page. If there's no control to be found then I would uninstall / reinstall Easy Settings because it may not have detected the backlight option.

This post from earlier this year indicates that the -S01UB has a backlit keyboard.

You should use Easy Software Manager / SW Update to get the latest version of Easy Settings (I am offered 1.1.1.4). Samsung are frequently issuing updates which are mainly bug fixes because they are trying to support many notebooks with a few standard software packages. It is possible that a newer version will fix your bug. If not, then we may have to concluded that there's a hardware problem.

That version is indeed a bit old. 1.1.1.14 came out last summer. But looking at the download page for your model, I don't see anything newer (in fact, it only shows an even older version). It should still work though.

But you can find 1.1.1.14 on the download page for NP700Z3A (my model) and give it a try.

I wonder if the light sensor is broken or not properly installed. Can you enable Auto Brightness in Easy Settings (under Display)? Does Adaptive Brightness show in Windows Advanced Power Settings? And does it work?

Update: Try this: In Device Manager (Control Panel), Show Hidden Devices (View menu) and see if the light sensor shows up (under Sensors). If it doesn't, that sensor isn't working, and keyboard backlight won't work. Just a thought...

Sorry, that sucks. It's really frustrating that the (otherwise excellent) keyboard backlight feature depends on the light sensor. I am sure many people would rather disable that light sensor entirely and manually control the backlight. You can do that with screen brightness, but unfortunately not with keyboard backlight.

    Do you still have warranty?
