My brother in law has two Samsung`s an q210 and a r60plus here says he`s used skype on both, and the skype now does not work on the r60plus so he brought it to my house, first thing i noticed, no built in webcam, and no internal microphone that i can see, so i read the pdf manual on the notebook and it says there is a mic on the keyboard bottom left, but i cannot see a mic hole, and i have had loads of Samsung notebooks.
So he swears blind he has used skype on this notebook and now it does not work, so i asked him did he use an external mic, no he says, but he does use headphones.
Now i remember that microphones and headphones work in a similar way, just a moving coil in a magnetic field, but microphones are a lot more sensitive,
so i plugged my headphones into the mic socked and they work great as a microphone and these are just standard headphones, so my brother in law must had been plugging his headphones into the mic socked by accident.
Just as i was trying skype out with these headphones acting as a mic, he had a call from one of his friends and he had a ten minute conversation taking a good distance from the headphones and there we no problems.
So he has gone home to try his headphones, but they dont seem to work as well as mine, i was surprised they worked at all.![]()

LOL
I remember, I actually did that once years ago, on a desktop PC where I didn't have I mic. I think Skype's dynamic adjustment of mic settings is probably why it works. Even though the headphones are a poor mic, Skype optimizes boost and noise settings to make the most of it.
Very funny though, particularly that he never knew what a fancy stunt he was doing. Thanks for sharing
Update: BTW, great signature!!!
here`s a strange story.
