i want to set my NC-10 defragging but i dont want the lid open at all for varying reasons (ill be leaving it unattended and theres a roaming cat in the room)

if i shut the lid on these netbooks they automatically shut down dont they?
can that be turned off temporarily whilst i defrag the machine?

Or Power Options, in English. And, if you haven't figured out what to do, change the action on closing the lid to Do Nothing.

Some laptops might go into meltdown but others are designed to run closed, for example the Dell Latitudes when put into docking stations. Others, such as my Zepto, have ventilation holes in the keyboard which let cooling air in, so if the computer is closed then the airflow is reduced. In the case of the NC10, I don't think that Atom N270 is going to produce enough heat to cause any problems.
