    little help with vm7000 laptop

    this is a friend's old laptop. there is a black screen, no video, computer boots up nicely in the background, i attach it to an external monitor plugged into the back and it works fine. so not the mobo or video card. definitely a problem with the lcd screen. sometimes i can see faint image. i imagine it's a problem with the backlight. how difficult is this to repair on one's own? anyone know a good online tutorial? parts place? anyone had top deal with this before?
