    I have reformat my laptop ,my laptop can't detect my D drive(dvd writer). How can I retrieve my firmware?

    I'm assuming that you cannot boot from the Windows installation disc.

    Press Esc a few times while the BIOS screen is showing. Is the optical drive listed as a boot option?

    Or if Esc doesn't work, then try F2 which should get you into the BIOS setup. You may need to move the optical drive to the top of the boot order menu.
