    Hi.

I installed 185.15 and display manager, the brightness control using the Fn buttons became very strange and erratic, display turning off , at 3 level brightness or going to full brightness and a high pitched whining sound with a dark display, but goes away when you increase the brightness to full.

So i uninstalled 185.15 and used the update manager to restore the default samsung driver 176.24 and everything is back to normal, and the high pitch wining is gone!

    Anybody else had this problem?

    Regards

    John.

I've had problems using the non-official drivers, yes.

Things such as the backlight being off unless turned on at startup, the backlight turning off as soon as you went below level 3 brightness and the occasional flicker.

Never had any high pitch whine though.

It was very low but in a silent room, you could hear it while using the notebook.

I think i will stick to the Samsung update from now on! , I get the best 3dmar06demo results with them anyway.

    Regards

    John.

    Hi.

I found a thread here , it`s quite old but it identifies that the offical samsung display drivers have extra functions to control the brightness.

Even when the display manger is working 100%, it never remembers my settings after a re-boot i always get a maximum brightness screen and have to adjust it.

    Regards

    John.
