eveytime i unplug the laptop the brightness goes down to half or more
the battery is fully charged, i device manager power options i have set the brightness to full for both plugged in and on battery, everytime i reboot it still goes down to half brightness, there is no option in the bios to alter it either.
i have to use the fn plus up key to up the brighness everytime i reboot.
if i reboot with it plugged in it stays bright im using win7 64bit ultimate

managed after all this time to find a fix, and yes it actually works - Samsung Fast Start Free Download

    Good job fixing it.

I have to say, though, that's a very OLD driver you're linking there, and I wouldn't recommend others to install that. That functionality has since been built into Easy Settings (for Win7) and Settings (for Win8).

I suggest you follow the directions in this post to find the latest version of Easy Settings instead (it's a bit tricky to find).

I fully understand that, when you finally got it working. My advice was mostly aimed at others who might see this in the future.

Threads like this have a way of resurfacing, when somebody finds them on Google 12 months from now :D

excillent point, i installed the latest version you quoted, my laptop was not on any of the world lists, id imagine it's archived now
but for what it's worth, the fast start app worked for me perfectly, just as a recap, when id open the lappy lid i could hardly see the win7-64bit desktop, i had to use fn+arrowup key everytime to up the brightness, fast start cured this for me, i did do a backup first

So you have both Easy Settings and this separate Fast Start app installed now? If so, which version of Easy settings?

Don't get me wrong, I do believe you that the issue was solved after installing that driver. When something works, I am not going to argue with it.

But knowing what Fast Start does (see this post) I would still recommend that others first install the proper and up-to-date drivers (in this case an up-to-date Easy Settings) and perform the usual brightness fixes ( here and here). Only if that doesn't work would I recommend installing a 2+ years old driver that is no longer supported by Samsung.

Again, I post this only as reference for others who may see it down the road. Please don't read it as anything else :)
