Is the laptop turning on at all? If so, can you plug an external monitor in and see what happens. And does the laptop screen change in anyway when you turn the laptop on? I have a laptop with a dead GPU, when you turn it on, the screen stays black but I can tell the backlight has turned on.

My guess would be the GPU died when it froze. If so, the fix is probably to get a new motherboard. But, it could be the backlight or inverter has died or a cable is loose to the screen. If the external monitor works, it is probably the latter. If it doesn't, it's probably the GPU.

    1. Do any lights flash when you try to turn the computer on?

    2. Try to reset the hardware by removing the mains power and the battery and then holding down the power button for about 30 seconds.

    3. If any lights flash but nothing else happens when you try to start then remove / replace the RAM module. Sometimes the contacts oxidise with time and removal/replacement cleans them.

    4. If the lights come on and the HDD runs then it may be a display issue. You can check by connecting to an external monitor. However, it is very unlikely to be the GPU (Intel) or the inverter (the netbook has LED backlighting so no inverter).
