so basically my screen just went dim..if i put a flashlight up to the screen I can see the graphics on the screen. So I can assume either the backlight or the inverter is shot. How do I determine which is shot and where would I get a new inverter or backlight? thanks in advance

That netbook's display has LED backlighting so there's no inverter. I assume that the LEDs are an integral part of the panel.

I would therefore suspect the cable between the mainboard and the display. It might have worked loose at one end so the power isn't getting through. It's a case of strip down, disconnect, reconnect and try again.
