hey folks, i've got a general question to ask all of you here at samsung section.

Since im korean, and lived in korea for the past 10 years, i can safely say that samsung is korean's nationally trusted company with products such as house cleaning machines, rice cooker, phones to computers. When people need to buy a product which samsung provies, no one questions their reputation or quality.

Now i live in canada, and i can see its a lot different here than it is in korea. In north american market, there is no 1 company that generally carries most of appliances or computer related products and have unquestionable reputation nor quality.

When i ask my friends what they thought of samsung as a company, they usually say samsung makes awesome monitors and thats about it. When i ask them about their quality of service or reputation, few can answer me.

So, im asking people of this awesome forum what you guys think of samsung brand and how they are thought of from where you live! :D

My first acquaintance with Samsung consumer products in recent years was when my daughter bought a Samsung mobile phone. I liked the size and build sufficiently that I bought my own soon after.

My impression is that, in UK, Samsung is now looked on as an equal to the better Japanese consumer electronics companies.

I believe Samsung have a very high reputation in the UK. Since I've been working in an electrical goods retailers I've seen people purchase a Samsung TV because of the solid build quality and good design. With items such as white goods Samsung aren't as popular as manufacturers such as Hotpoint simply because the Samsung goods cost more however they do offer better quality. With small electrical appliances such as mobile phones Samsung have a great reputation especially with slider models.

Overall I think the Samsung brand name has increased greatly in strength and stature over the past few years.

yes.. with samsungs mobile phones the reputation got better for them.. partnering with microsoft as the official xbox 360 hdtv was also a wise move.
nowadays most people consider them the sony of the 90´s here.. but they´re still far away from beeing a number one highly trusted company.
