I am looking at both of the above laptops/notebooks

I love the look of the ultrabook but my only concern is it only having a 128GB ssd,
It will be a general use laptop internet movies ect.....

Can a HD be added to the ultrabook or do i have to use an external HD? Also i know in the past I have tried to watch a HD movie stored on my external HD through USB cable and it did not work kept freezing i believe the speed of usb forget which version but it was too slow.

Regarding the series 7 can a SSD be added to it?

    Thanks

See this thread about upgrading the mSATA SSD in the Series 9 (it also applies to the 13.3" Series 7 Ultra). A 480 GB Crucial M500 mSATA SSD is expected soon.

    The 15.6" Series 7 uses a 2.5" drive.

    Hi Joseph,

Previous Series 7 models (2011 and 2012) came with an HDD and an optical drive. This allowed the HDD to be replaced with a faster (but smaller) SSD and the HDD to be moved to the optical bay. You need a special caddy to fit the HDD there.

In the current 2013 Series 7 lineup, only the 17 inch model has an optical drive. For all other models, there is no option to have two internal drives.

You can put the replaced HDD in an external USB enclosure and connect it that way. USB2 and USB3 are both plenty fast to support high-def video playback. But if the system has other bottlenecks or is not configured well, USB latencies can multiply those to the point where playback suffers. But it is not a limitation of USB as such.

Oh, and welcome to the forum :)
