Im new to the forum just like to say hello to you all and thanks for accepting me.

ok now with the head ache laptop i will begin from the start

i bought a samsung sf511 of ebay with a cracked screen there was no display on the cracked screen but worked fine on a externail monitor

step one--- i bought a new screen from broadway caomputers in melborne no luck still no image on laptop screen but ok on monitor

step 2--- I inspected the cable for the screen and it had some wires broken from me pluging it in and out so i bought a new cable from my supplier still no image on screen

i have tested the new screen on another laptop and it works fine

now my question is could there be damage to the motherboard thats only allowing signail from the vga sochet any ideas would be great

My only suggestion is to recheck whether the display cable is plugged correctly at both ends.

It would be unusual for display damage to also cause damage to the main board electronics but perhaps these things can happen. You could check with a magnifying glass to see if there are any damaged joints.

Fn+F4 steps through the display output options but the notebook should use the internal display by default. I don't think there's anything at the BIOS level that sets the output device.
