1400 pounds is pretty good. Mine will cost about 3k euros after all my options. I'm getting it from
http://www.notebook-shop.de/main.ph...&productid=1721
As i said i'm sure they're not the cheapest but they are the cheapest i could find that would offer s uk/us keyboard. Also note that their price includes two batteries. I've had it shipped to a friend in london and will be picking it up in dec or january. The wait is killing me! By the way, they allow you to buy tax exempt but the formalities seemed long winded so i just paid full price and asked them to ship with a tax refund form.
Service is pretty good and they answered my emails almost instantaneously. If you want to call them, they also speak english. They actually shipped my laptop much earlier than expected but are nice enough to waive the 2 week deadline for returns, etc. The have said i can check out the laptop whenever i'm in london and if there are any issues, they'll sort me out.

wow!! nice job techanimal, looks like you got yourself a nice deal then, i am still waiting on whether i can even able to get the Samsung X50, so we'll see, i will wait another week before something really happens.
If you happen to get ur laptop before me, plz write up a review, i may not be at home when you get ur laptop, and i may not have internet there.
If i do get my laptop before you, i will try to put a up a quick review, for you, provided i have internet at that time.

Techanimal u got the X50 already?
If you do I would like to know the following things.
Screen Quality, Viewing Angles
Battery Life, with and without undervolting, give specifics on how u achieved the batterylife.
3DMark05
PCMark05
Your Cost in any currency
Where are the Slots for the RAm located, (one under and one beneath the keyboard??)
Is the Hard Drive changeable?
Is the optical drive Changeable?
How Long can you play Movies in the Video DJ (play movies with no OS)
Overal Build Quality?
If you can test and figure these things out, that would be helpful,
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
Its already been shipped but i haven't gotten my hands on it yet. I can answer a few of your questions though.
Cost was 3037 euros including tax and shipping. I opted for the UK keyboard and the dead pixel guarantee.
The hard drive is changeable and the guys i bought from offer options for that as well.
Build quality is rock solid. I know this from playing with a few different x50s. No creaking anywhere.
Optical drive is slimmer than standard ones so its pretty difficult to find a replacement. Not impossible though. However, i can't say anything about color matching and interface. -

hello...
i´m in a trouble, because i´ve seen this notebook and i don´t know what to do:
Samsung x50
- centrino m730-1.6 ghz
- 1gb ddr II (400 mz)
- 60 gb 5400 rpm
- ATI X600 128 mb
- bluetooth
1200 vat included
I think it´s a good prize, because i´m in Spain and here notebooks are a bit expensive.
Another notebook i´m interested in is Sony vaio FS315S, which i can get for abut 1400 vat included.
which of these models do you recomend me¿
Thanks and sorry for my poor english -
I'd say go for the Samsung.

I'd surely not recommend Sony Vajo FS.

The beast is here! I had forgotten how thin this thing is and how light. Screen and keyboard are gorgeous. Loading software and testing now. Feel free to ask questions.

hehe yah, this is my list of stuff i would talk about when i get my laptop, whatever it may be, but i know i left some stuff out.. kinda lazy to put the other stuff in hehe. w/e this is enough
How's the keyboard and Touchpad?? Resonpsive?? You like it or Dislike and why?
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
LOL. Keyboad is very good in my opinion. It feels just right. I'm comparing it with my Dell Latitude and Mitac 8050 at the moment. It seems to have the right amount of travel and bounce and doesnt slow down my typing at all (which is rare for a new keyboard).
Touchpad seems a tad slower than my mitac (not less accurate). I'm still playing around with the options so perhaps i'll find a comparable setting. Keyboard and touchpad are both very good quality though and the touchpad has no spaces for dirt and grime to get into. -
Hi everyone.Im new here.
Does anyone know if the x700 in the x50 is 64 or 128bit? Thanks. -
MysticGolem Asus MVP + NBR Reviewer NBR Reviewer
i am pretty sure its 128mb, i don't think there's such a thing as an X700 64bit.
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
I do hope 128 bit - 64 bit would be quite slow.
