Are there any rumors of a series 7 15 incher getting an i7 ivy? I've seen talk about 17 inchers and series 9's but not the s7 15in.

Samsung's global download site lists an NP700Z5CH and an NP700Z5CI for which no downloads are currently available (there are also NP700Z4CH and NP700Z3CH. Based on the Series 9 experience a C in the number might indicate Ivy Bridge.

There was a rumor about a refresh of the 15 in series 7 with nvidia graphics and ivy. If this happens, i ll go begging for a refund (got a few build flaws that could justify an exchange/refund) and buy it instantly.

This computer has a lot of potential, if samsung could focus on it a bit it would make it a true mbp rival.

I saw on endgadget that samsung read the comments and review of the series 9 and made the 15 inc taking into account all the rants. So that shows they can listen.

Any idea when it will come to the US or is timing pointless speculation right now?

Hmmm, why the switch to Nvidia all of a sudden? Radeon 7xxx series (7750 perhaps) would have done the same, if not a better job of handling graphics.

Given the hassle with AMD switchable graphics, which must have cost some sales, perhaps they felt that it was time for a change.

Which would be true. I hope they go at least to the 650M. With a better screen, this would be like the (upper end) macbook pro for half the price :p

What's the latest on an update?
I've read that switching manually would mean a different mainboard, then no-go, then just a BIOS upgrade, then a firmware upgrade...
What seems most likely right now?

Well a page is up on samsung's website for the NP700Z5CH with an ivy quad core and the nvidia 640M (GDDR5!).

Currently, nvidia's switching solution seems to be superior to that of amd, so I'm glad they decided to switch. It's just too bad that they couldn't put the 650M instead.

    I hope they can fit a 650 GDDR5 in the 17in model.

Does anyone know if there will be an Ivy, nvidia 14" ? If so, I'm going to be livid. Samsung just switched me from a QX411 with nvidia to this series 7 with amd and I'm having nothing but problems. No one has replied to my loud fan thread...I may have to re-record.
