i got a samsung v20 for free, its a 2ghz with 1x128mb ram and 1x256ram and a 20gb 5400 drive. the only problem is i think the vga ribbon had broken as the lcd lights up but with no picture but the external vga connection works fine on my monitor.

i have been trying to open up the latop, i have taken all the screws out the bottom and theres what i think is to clips holding the top onto the bottom, is there any screws i dont know about?? where its not opening is near the hdd activity light and the same on the otherside, i have been quite hard with it but i dont want to break it.

also if i can get it working i have a spare 2.8ghz p4 laying arround would it work in the v20 mobo or do i have to have a p4-m? if i do get it working i think i might get some more pc133 ram and replace the 128 stick!!

sorry for the long thread, any advice would be great, i have built a few pc but as for laptops this is my first attempt to modify one!

To take a laptop apart you first need to take out the keyboard. The screws you took out mostly held down the keyboard and you should be able to take it out now. The keyboard will be hocked in with 2 or 3 snappers. Once the keyboard is out you can do more.

And you will need a Pentium 4M. A normal Pentium 4 will fit but you risk overheating.
