OK yeterday my x50 froze.. nothing worked.. the graphics displayed but the pointer wouldn't move and the keyboard was dead..

    It wasn't reading the HD..

I only had 1 choice to hit the power button...

    and now...

    Its not booting :(

When I switch it on all I get is the CD-rom firing up and the HD light for about 10seconds but NO bios displayed..

So far i've taken out each ram chip (has 2x512) to test the ram.
I've remove the HD ribbon to test that..

    No luck, no display..

I've also tried the external VGA and again nothing..

I bought the usb hard drive connector cables so I can transfer the data.

Any ideas ? Would this be the graphics card ? Any way to replace it ?

This sounds nasty. My first thoughts:

Disconnect the mains, remove the battery and hold down the power button for half a minute to try to clear any remaining power. Then reconnect the mains and see if it will start.

CD activity and some lights, but no other action, does suggest a RAM problem. However, you could try an external display and whatever Fn key tabs you through the display device options just in case it's the internal display.
