    NBR just reviewed MSE.

    Sounds good to me :)

Hoping for a AVG 9 review to compare with.

I think unless AVG comesout with some kinda new technology for malware detection/removal, its gonna completely fade out soon, now that MSE is here as well. And so is Panda Cloud AV.

I hope AVG will learn its lesson before AVG being vanished as 1 of the FREE AV choice.
AVG used to be good last time, now, it is as suck as hell.

    Good article :)

So do you use MSE as your AV?

I'm pretty convinced now that MSE is the best choice for me. Once I install Windows 7 this afternoon, MSE will be my new AV.

I want to use MSE as well but I need the AV comparison for the Detection Rate of MSE. If it is as high as Avira. No doubt, MSE is the 1 of the BEST FREE AV.
Finally, I will switch to MSE. XD Bored of Avira even it is nice.

Right now I am using NIS 2010 because I got it free for 180 days. After its over I might go to MSE since on Connect I am a tester of the newest builds (I am using it in XP Mode).

I wouldn't be too concerned with the Detection Rates because MSE uses the same definitions as Microsoft Forefront. Both Microsoft Forefront and even OneCare had great detection rates so I feel pretty confident in using MSE.

I may have to consider making the switch to MSE, we'll see... :)

Yeah, I'm on Avira now, but I've been waiting for the results for MSE, PC Mag's review was a bit less favorable of it so I held off to see what another testing service says. The latest results gives me the confidence I need.

I used AVG since it came out , it was light and did what an AV was supposed to do , but they went the norton bloat way and turned to crap . Now use either Avast or Avira without the web guard .

I've been having good luck with the v9 of AVG. I run avast at home but AVG on about 1400 desktop computers and have begun a migration to v9. I was very unhappy with 8.5 but 9 seems to have a much, much better catch rate with malware, it appears much lighter on resources and it's also much easier to manage and deploy through the remote administration interface. (the latter applicable only to the corporate edition.)

Just change them all to either Avira Antivir Personal 9 or Microsoft Security Essential. These 2 AVs are much more better than AVG FREE 9/8.5.
Don't worry, this is fact not rumors.

Frankly Avira's central administration abilities have left something to be desired, and MSE does not appear to have any central administration whatsoever. This is fact, not rumors.

I guess the problem is the CA for you.
If you Avira or MSE do have a good CA, I guess, no doubt, you're on them already.

I read this topic to find out what peoples said about AVG Free 9.0 before I started to upgrade mine. First time read this, I wondering "what the heck is MSE?" After finished reading all discussion here, I decided to throw away AVG and move to MSE. Why? Because I read somewhere here, people complained about AVG not too compatible to work together with Windows Defender.. Actually I never have a problem with AVG, I use AVG on my Vaio for over than a year and everything is fine. So, after installing MSE, I do a full scan for my system and no threat detected. Yes, I'm satisfied with MSE. Well done, Microsoft.
