    AVG Free 2011 slowdown issue

    I just got a call from a client yesterday about his installation of AVG free 2011. 2 days after he installed it, he noticed that his computer began running too slowly to be useful. I'll briefly list the specs from memory:

    Gateway Small Form Factor (SX series if I remember right)
    Intel Quad core processor (Qxxxx)
    4GB DDR3 Memory
    640GB HDD
    Intel Integrated Video
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    I can't provide any useful troubleshooting information I'm afraid as I instructed the client over the phone to uninstall AVG Free 2011 and install Microsoft Security Essentials instead. The uninstallation of AVG restored the computer to normal, so there must be some bug in AVG or maybe a program incompatibility issue that caused the slowdown.

    I hope nobody else has/had this problem as AVG has always worked pretty well, especially for a free anti-virus program. Does anyone have a clue what happened?

    The same client installed AVG Free 2011 on his laptop and hasn't had the issue yet on that platform, which is running a 32-bit installation of Vista if memory serves.

    After I installed AVG free 2011 earlier today my Mozilla has effectively become useless.I use AVG for years but I have no choice but to install MSE.

    Update:After installing MSE everything returned to normal.That's on a notebook with win7 32 bit.On a Vista 32 bit AVG 2011 works just fine.

    all antivirus use more cpu power when scanning or updating, I have tried all the free one`s avg, avera, mse, comodo, and avast is the one i always go back too.

    I didn't mean "scanning or updating". Avast is the only free AV which uses CPU when you are download files from the internet.
