Looking for a AV that scans well but allows me to delete what I want, quarantine etc.

Somethings I have seem to get automatically deleted when using the normal AV like Avira, Norton.

    Help!?

With most antiviruses, you can configure what is done with detected files by selecting either automatically delete, automatically quarantine, or ask every time.

I have yet to find a option to "ignore " that's what I need.

If you want to ignore detections, don't run any antivirus at all. ;)

Seriously, though, many antivirus programs have a whitelist feature where you can list known safe programs so they won't be scanned. You can try putting the folder of any improperly flagged file in the whitelist so it is ignored.

I'd recommend Avast, it works well - even the free version - and you can configure it to pretty much do whatever you want it to - if you spend the time getting to know its settings.

That's what I have been doing for the last 3 years however there are some Spyware that is new code, unfortunately I can't source it. So time to run a AV, only to remove it and Uninstall the AV.

Another vote for Avast, have it install on my parents laptops and had it for the longest time on my laptop and desktop.

It does take a bit getting used to but once you figure out all the options it's simple to use.

I used to use nod32 back when it wasn't automated! It wasn't for your standard end user. I miss that! I'll try avast! And see what I can do. Thanks

I've used ESET as well before and for the longest time I used on-demand scanners versus always running ones. If you are looking for an on-demand scanner that does not run in the background I would look into BitDefender as it is popular, I haven't had much experience with it though.

Been using ESET NOD32 for almost 7 years now. Not a single issue, since the past 2-3 years it been overhauled with updates.
