NOD32 is branded an anti-spyware.
i have version 2.7..
wanna know if it also detects malware and spywares?

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
it does to a certain extend,But the cleaning is not perfect.I had to format the whole computer twice.I would say something like a spyware detector should be used with NOD32.

what would u recommend then
how would antivir free version compare to nod32 -
There is no spyware/ adware protection in Avira free version.
-
But the premium version has it, right? I thought I saw it on a spyware/malware chart and it placed very high up there, past AVG and avast!.
-
Yes the premium version has spyware protection. It's (version 7.x) detection rates are better than AVG (7.5) and Avast (4.7). But no new tests are available with the newer versions.

Okay thanks.
so now i am using ThreatFire. -
I'm pretty sure v2 doesn't have the new Threatsense system in v3 so the anti-malware is either very crippled or not even implemented. Good job on getting TF.
-
i have recently bought NOD32 ver. 3.0.650, i like it very much, also i use ThreatFire, and Vista's Firewall and Defender Off. so, is it a good protection combination or do i need something else to add?

is threatfire good with x64 vista because i just swicthed to antivir and it's pretty unstable with x64 vista homepremuim
-
Yes, it's a pretty good setup but you should turn off the vista firewall and use Comodo Pro Firewall with Defense+ off since you already use TF.

i thought that comodo firewall was annoying so i uninstalled it
-
Because of the oft hated Defense+, otherwise it's good.

imo nod is no where near what it used to be. i ran nod for years.. recently tried a number of other av's and almost all picked up stuff nod missed. i am now using kaspersky and really like it. imo avira suite is the best out though..both do a LOT BETTER job than nod at cleaning as well..
