VPN random disconnection with NOD32 solved.
Problem:
Solution:
No more disconnections now, the problem was I was adding VPN.AC.exe to the file exclusions initially and not the Web and Mail exclusions. -

Not yet, the latest Beta is very stable and light though -
I just renewed an ESET NOD 32 subscription on current laptop, but have a new one on the way. Can a subscription be transferred? Thanks!

The beauty of ESET products is unlike other security solutions when they restrict you from reactivations and what not, you can use the same license on another computer freely provided you are not using the same license at the same time and violating the license allowed users. Just uninstall it from your old laptop and reinstall it on the new one and you're good to go -
Thanks!

ESET NOD32 Antivirus v10.0.386.0 / ESET Internet Security v10.0.386.0 released!
Despite the site not showing these versions in the offline installers, I just installed NOD32 using the online installer and it installed this newer version

ESET basically force you to use LiveGrid. You are allowed to disable it, but there is no way to then disable the warning that LiveGrid is disabled so you have a constant security alert and a red exclamation mark near the tray is on - meaning you may not notice a new alert appearing.
I went to ESET forums looking for an answer on how to deal with it, but anybody asking about that is being treated like a moron who cannot appreciate how the communist party is doing all of that for their good. And then the thread gets closed.
Extremely annoying - I will finish my test of ESET Smart Security but I will not pay them a dime after that regardless of how good or bad it turns out to be.
If I wanted to be treated like dirt and still pay for that, I'd go to Goldman Sachs... (I'm so getting sued for that post
)

yes I agree that is one part I hate about ESET's products, sure you can disable things you don't need like I would prefer to disable the HTTP scanner to speed up my browsing and downloads but then my OCD wouldn't allow me to do that since I would havee an orange ESET icon in the taskbar and it makes me feel like something is wrong so I've just learned to live with keeping it enabled.
Is there any reason why you want to disable Live Grid though?
As much as I don't like such behavior, I've tried all other AVs and I keep going back to ESET
Other AVs: either heavey on resources, or has activation limits, or has bloatware / addons, or mess up your OS entirely, there is no better AV IMHO
Please give me a link to the thread you posted. I know the mods there I'll have them look into this. -
LiveGrid isn't special in any way - Avast and Symantec among others have deployed similar solutions which are based around the concept of a wisdom of the crowd and reputation of a file. And herein lies the problem - crowds are not wise. I've never seen so many false positives as I've seen with those types of solutions.
I haven't posted a thread myself - I found a couple posted by other users and I was appalled by how they were treated. They were literally asked to say what Live Grid does, to prove that they do understand that. Then threads were closed by Marcos.
I'm not paying them. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
I can help you *if you want* as I am well connected with the moderators there but if you refuse to work it out as I see you are aggravated by those posts you've read....
Then the next thing to discuss here, is what are you planning to switch to? -
You can't do anything about that I'm afraid. It seems LiveGrid can be disabled in corporate solutions (since corporate users are considered to be competent enough to know what are they doing) but not in SOHO solutions. They simply got on their high horses and decided they know better than some amateurs.
And even if you could do something via some inside channels - it still would apply only to me, not to the product available to general public.
I realize that most people don't mind keeping LiveGrid enabled but this is why we have advanced settings, for those who know what they're doing (or who think they do
)
I haven't fully tested v10 yet, so I'm giving it a chance and so far I think it's doing good. Firewall seems to have been improved, scan speeds are still very good and GUI is very simple and nice to navigate (which might not seem that important but it's annoying as hell if you can't find something you need).
I'm gonna see how it deals with heavy usage, does it suffer from memory leaks, how does firewall deal with very heavy fragmented traffic and so on. Then I'm gonna form an opinion.
I owe some other security suites some testing - so far I've dealt with AVAST Premier, Norton Security Deluxe and Bitdefender Something-or-other (this one lasted only an hour though).Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Got myself a license for this on the cheap. I like the interface and it's not heavy on resources, but the https:// scanner pretty much completely breaks access to secure websites, so I had to disable that. It seems like that's more of an issue with Windows 10, but whatever. We'll see how it goes.

@Phoenix Bhai: Newer releases (Maybe W10 FCU certified) of ESET AVs https://malwaretips.com/threads/eset-11-0-131-final.75744/
Make an image backup of your C drive in case FCU screws up the AV installation. -

Thanks to @Phoenix for the info on the NOD32 sale at Newegg!!! Despite getting Newegg website errors for an hour and sitting in the chat queue "forever" and receiving no resolution, I was able to get my order placed, saving me a lot of money (to buy other things with....LOL). I've been testing out ESET Internet Security but for the price of NOD32 for 3 computers I couldn't resist.

@Phoenix, My ESET is all set up and activated, just waiting for the license. I've also activated Team Viewer now and will just have to add my new laptop to the list of authorized computers. And thanks for the Skype help, I'll learn how to use that better (of course, having a microphone will help, which I'll have set up on my laptop).....I still have to see what Skype is all about and make sure I don't have to pay for anything when I am using it.

I'm still on V10 as i haven't received the update to latest, is it worth to install manually? I just need to know if it's stable enough as i don't want to deal with additional bugs and other fuff for the moment

eset is worst antivirus i ever seen, sometimes you clearly see virus in task manager but eset says all fine!
Then you start to scan computer with something else, like mbam or adwcleaner and voila eset see them when others found it
.
Its really comical situation. Do not recommend this trash av. -
And what would you recommend?
-
A bit vague here. Are you sure your virus isn't a Windows feature?Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Without showing us evidence and sample of what you're talking about. This post is meaningless. Post the files which you claim ESET have missed by uploading them somewhere, then I will download them and see if my NOD322 catches them and also compare them on Virus Total perhaps they are false positives from MBAM as it is notorious for its high level of false positives. ESET is not trash, YOUR meaningless trolling post is.Vasudev likes this.
