Maybe some people have noticed, but Kaspersky 2010 has been released.
Anbody with a valid license can upgrade for free - as before from KIS 7 to 2009.
One word of warning:
Kaspersky has let the graphics department loose...
Another thing, although I do not know whether its related - I seem to sometimesget very high RAM usage - however, the task manager does not indicate this is due to Kaspersky - it just happens since I installed it.
Its also possible this happens becase I didn't do a full system scan.

Thanks for the info. I have just installed it on my new laptop
-
where? I just went to the main website and it says in August. Please give me a link.
-
I just installed it, i dont have problem with kapersky memory usage.
-
Cheers. -
A little word of warning - Kaspersky hs as got a little memory leak - so you may have to restart once a day.
A little google search confirmed th ehunch mentioned in my first post.#
Its not too bad though - and seems worst if idling - also, it works well for some people, with no memory leak. -
How can you tell if you have a memory leak and what version are you running ?
-
Keep your laptop idling for several hours - or use it.
If you are using a few hundred MB more after a few hours (compard to startup) you possibly have a memory leak (excluding viruses, other bad software, drivers etc.)
I don't know more about it as I didn't research it.
You can google it if you want - KIS 2010 and memory leak.
I'm running version 9.0.0.463 -
I upgraded to 2010 and it seem to lag and bump up CPU usage to 100% many times, which has never happened in 2009. Is this a bug?
It runs fine on my laptop with just a time to time slow down but it can't hold up on my slower dad's laptop. I can feel Kaspersky is really holding down the speed of the computer.
I think it's due to 'Enabled Protection' on, but is it continuing to scan forever? I just clean installed to Win7 and only have used up about 10GB (including Win7 files) but it's scanning forever (going towards 800,000 files and still scanning). I think this seems to be a reason because when I disable Protection and leave Kaspersky on, my laptop seems to run fine. -
I know KIS 7 to KIS 2009 was a performance increase, also on a at that time 3 years old laptop (1,6GHz Pentium M and 1GB RAM) - now 2009 to 2010 on my more modern Vaio I don't think I could tell the difference.
You could try the support - let's hope its more competent than with regard to KIS blocking the webcam in ICQ 6.5 ... -
-
people are still having some issues with it.. memory wise hopefully they will fix it soon
-
Oh, and techsupport... once on a bad update on Version 7 I phoned them and got a good answer quickly.
On my ICQ webcam problem on KIS 2010 the first reply I got from tech support was regarding internet browsers.. which meant I sent them a reply ... and haven't yet had the chance to try it (due to my conversational partner not being available when I'm online) - but I didn't have to do it on KIS 2009... ah well... -
Tech sent me a normal technical e-mail that he probably copied and pasted from manual. Erase Norton, etc... do this do that.
I'm not sure if I'll stick with Kaspersky once 1 yr subscription runs out. I bought 3-user version and 2 computers cannot even handle new version while it seems to work fine on mine with random slow down. -
Download it from their site.
Another thing - in the version 7 and 2009 you cannot run a virus scan and update simultaneously.
Speaking about performnace - performance increases once you run a full scan once. -
-
On a side note.
I read somewhere on the internet that the memory leak as fixed ni KIS 2010 but that the version number was not changed.
I downloaded the file again and installed it, there seemed to be no change (i.e. still memory leak) but recentl I left my laptop on over night and I had no (!!) excessive RAM usage - i.e. the leak was fixed - either by replacing the fle available from Kaspersky online or via the database updates.
-
i am finding the new version way to heavy in some cases. and it really messes with you tube and media player feedback making them very choppy
