ahh very nice
are you using the free version?
-
Been using the free version for a couple of years. Very nice software.
-
nice nice good to hear!
I just installed it, it's as pretty cool program. Encrypting everything what I'm typing right now. Interesting what it shows up every time I type something
Thanks you guys -
I dislike programs that use resources and assume you have malware. I do not like to act on the assumption that I'm infected, I'd rather spend that RAM on a prevention method.
-
so what's your point?
I mean, in terms of protection I think I'm pretty okay.
Avira on maximum detection and guard on
Comodo Firewall
MBAM
CCleaner
SuperAntivirus
Firefox with ABP and Better Privacy
PB (passive)
use resources assuming malware?
something like key scrambler barely makes a dent lol
-
I wonder if it works for USB keyboard loggers (hardware based logging)
-
huh, good question not sure. I don't have a usb keyboard to test that out with =\
-
Just my opinion. I dislike software that assumes you're infected. I'm only interested in prevention. If I feel that I've been infected I'll take other measures like restoring an image.
I'm not saying that software like this doesn't have a use, it does. I'm just saying there isn't much point using it without a specific need for it. -
touche touche, I get what you're saying though.
So far I'm liking it, pretty nifty program. -
"KeyScrambler encrypts your keystrokes deep in the kernel, foiling keylogging attacks with scrambled, undecipherable data.
This advanced method of keystroke protection defeats both known and unknown keyloggers.
The friendly interface displays realtime encrypted stream of keystrokes so you see when and how KeyScrambler is working.
Strengthens where defenses are the weakest in your traditional anti-virus, anti-malware programs and PC security.
KeyScrambler = No user effort + Peace of mind"
"KeyScrambler defeats known and unknown keyloggers; also protects Chinese, Japanese, and Korean inputs; is compatible with other security programs, tokens and smart cards; and requires no user effort."

well put

I am using the free version (works only in browsers) and I really like it.
-
Hi folks,
From ccRaymond read ... it seems the "FREE" version will not be sufficient ... if you are using something like "TrueCrypt" ...
So, may have to cough up the $29.99 for the "PRO" version!
G!

yup yup, still want to check out the paid version.. Not sure though, the free version seems pretty adequate so far!
we'll see, but check it out; pretty sweet program -
Doesn't this assume that theres a keylogger on your laptop already? Or is this a ... stop gap. If someone got physical access to put a key logger on.. then aren't there bigger security concerns at hand...
-
yeah just more of a short stop. To prevent from anything happening. Better safe than sorry
but in the end, it's just more security that I don't mind having

I guess I just have to Trust a Squirrel with Superman long johns!

hahaha yup! What can I say

Hey GtsXracer,
I just installed the KS Free version 2.8.1.0 and I chose to have both "Tray Icon" and "Animation Overlay" displayed ... but I don't think this thing is working ...
Q1: How come the darn thing does NOT show in my icon, unless I run "Getting Started" from my "All Programs" listing and THEN I have to leave it on or the Tray Icon goes away ... And No Animation while I am typing this message for posting!!!! Is this how it is supposed to work or what?
Q2: When I look at the Tray Icon it says that I am NOT in the Protected Mode .... but when I Right-Click on it it shows that KeyScrambler is ON ... has the checkmark next to it. So, any thoughts!?!?
Thanks,
G!
-
hmm... sorry normally taking longer to post; you know how I'm pretty instantaneous with replies
Playing around with the settings trying to figure out Q1 for you. I think it's something in your tray settings. What's your browser that you're using? Firefox?
this is what it looks like for me. On open it starts up at the same time. But I normally have just the icon not both(with tray). Turned on "both" and it just stays in my tray icon bundle. I don't have to open Getting Started to.. "get it started".
Yeah I was a really befuddled by that. Before it always used to stay green when it's on. I think it's from the update. Last week QFX released a new-updated version. Might be something they changed that's causing it to stay yellow now. Mines like that as well hmmm
strange
(image removed)
I notice though, when you right click on the icon it turns green, click on turn it on, it stays green. But then when the tray icon bundle closes and I reopen it; it's yellow again.
I'll have to email them again. I emailed them last week when the new update came out. Noticed in firefox, when I open a new table and start typing like in google, it decodes the encoded-code incorrectly. So it shows up like in the encryption icon, just a jumble of randomness. But then when I stop typing, erase it and start over it goes back to normal. Something they did in this new update took'em back a step, never had these problems before when I first started using it. At least for me, it's not a big deal; just strange how this is happening now.
*edit
really irritating with that icon now that you mentioned it being yellow lol. Back to only showing the windows overlay. Probably just a little quirk they have to work out for another updated version. I just emailed them about the list of problems. We'll see what happens. As long as the program is working fine and doing it's job; that's all what I care

Interesting and relevant article. -
nice nice good find! That's a pretty nifty little design microsoft is pulling on their sleeves, would definitely give it a run when it comes out; if it's not too harsh on the pocket
-
Hi GTsXracer,
As I mentioned I e-mailed KS Support folks and long and behold they responded back but with the same answer that we could find on thir website anyway ...
I told them that I don't think KS 2.8.1.0 FREE is not really working ... and his answer was that it is an ONLY a PLUGIN for the Browser ...
But I really think this darn Freeware is NOT working or doing anything ... you know "Scrambling" keystroke and what not ... since I do NOT see any actiivities under different trials that I have done!
So, I am totally Surprised that everyone is TALKING UP this FREE version as it is Helping them!?!?
Thanks,
G!
-
yeah I'm a little weary about the program. I'll still use it, just not sure how effective it is. I'm really tempted in buying the full version though lol. We'll see, knowing myself I don't like to pay for programs like this. Might just end up uninstalling it (shrugs)
Other than that G, since we both know and emailed them about the problems; feel free to uninstall if you don't think it's really doing much
I'll give it another month for myself to see if they put out another updated version to smooth out these glitches. If not, it's gone.
-
G, just got a response back from them.
I told them about the decoding issue in firefox, using the latest version; when opening a new tab (ex: to google) it decodes the encoded typing incorrectly and comes out as jumbled garbage.
I also told them about what you and I were both experiencing with the yellow icon in the tray. The last portion is in request for your G
not asking me.
This is what they said,
quote en quote;
Hi Branden,
Thank you for your feedback. We're currently looking into the
scrambling problem in new Firefox tabs and hope to have it fixed in our
next update. The icon always appears yellow because when you click on
the little triangle button in the tray, Firefox is no longer the
foreground application. The focus has been transferred to Windows
Explorer itself, which is not supported in KeyScrambler Personal. Can
you ask your friend to check and see when he clicks on "Getting Started"
if the link is opening in Firefox or IE? Thanks!
Best regards,
Qian

^ Hi GtsXracer,
Thanks a bunch ... thinking of your pal ... btw, my cousin name is Brandon
nice name.
I have to give it to KeyScrambler Co. ... this guy "Qian" is really good about responding ... they have GREAT Customer Service ... I might just for that go for the Pro version ...
BTW, fro now I uninstalled it off of my laptop ... no sense of having 100 Software on my lappy.
Thanks again Gts!

yup yup, yeah everyday when I think about it, the more I inch towards the full paid version. We'll see with their next update when it gets released; whenever that'll be.
Yeah I was just about to uninstall it the very same day when we were talking about the problems. Then after I got their response and wasn't really a big deal, I just kept it on.
We'll see though, no problem man
Key Scrambler? Any advice?
