I have some software that is detected as having a trojani have a temporary copy of windows 7 on the lappy (separate partition) and installed it anyway. in my main windows 7 i run a full scan of the temp copy windows and it was all clean. does this mean there was no trojan after all or that now i have a trojan that is not being detected

the copy windows has no connection to the internet.

Why not upload the file to VirusTotal? Or is it too big?
-
file is too big to upload.
but what i want to know, is it possible that now the trojan is installed, can it not be detected, and has managed to hide itself? assuming it was there in the first place? -
I'm confused at the situation
You detected a Trojan and now you don't? Is that what you're saying?
And the actual file that has/is the trojan is your temporary Windows 7 copy? -
If you don't mind spending some time, run MalwarebytesAntimalware and/or the Avira boot CD.
I'd first google the AV message on that trojan before installing it, whether it's seen before or perhaps a known fp.
Do you notice any strange behaviour or outside connection?
For next time, it's better to test in a virtual OS, not on a separate partition.
And preferably always on a test machine, not on a production machine. -
i have various copies of my os's for different reasons. the copy i am setting up is for games and i am trying some web tips to improve performance (so cannot use virtual machine). my boot manger isolates the different os's so they do not affect each other directly.
when i was booted in the games win 7 partition, i installed a program which was detected as having a trojan. i have installed anyway, as there is no internet connection. when i rebooted into my 'working' os, i run a full scan with MSE (the same one) on the games partition but nothing was detected.
a trojan is not a problem with no normal internet connection, right?
a side note, it is really nice working on an os with no internet, no worry, no updates, no interruptions. it is completely safe
is it true that the worse thing to do to a new computer and os is to go online?
i will try some of the scanning sites sometime. -
What might have occurred is that MSE detected the trojan in question and automatically removed it (which would explain as to why you're not detecting it any more).
Aside from that, what you can also try is to simply install Avira (free), update it, and then scan your system. -
I'd recommend running MalwareBytes AntiMalware before installing another security suite.
MSE and trojan alert, maybe
