My mom gave me her friend's HP Netbook to tune up and install a few things like Adobe Flash Player![]()
So I turned teh netbook on, only to notice that it is running super slow and in a very strange way, so I run task manager, nope "The task manager has been disabled by your admin"
I run regedit, same thing, services.msc, same thing.......
So I googled it, it was a virus........
right.......next I install Avira AntiVir, nope! the virus wouldn't allow Avira to install.......
so I decide to try NOD32, it installed just fine, as soon as it installed, I was welcomed by popups for every single EXE on the system, the whole system was infected by the SALITY virus according to NOD32, but unfortunately, no cure was possible
I googled a Sality Virus remover and tried it but no help........the virus has badly damaged the system.......
So I thought formatting was the only resort here.....
I run XP,,,,,,BSOD upon the setup screen,
mind u, the netbook has no CD/DVD Drive, I copied the installation files to my external HDD.
Was not able to successfully integrate the SATA driver for that specific laptop using nlite......
Install Vista? No way.....
the specs are:
HP Mini 2140 / 1.6 GHz. Intel Atom / 1 GB RAM
hmm....I think......let's try Windows 7 RTM.....
guess what? It installed perfectly, found aLL drivers out of the box, and the system was running super fast for its specs after turning off all extra visual effects / AERO
HAIL to teh Win 7!
It saved the day!
just wanted to share my experience with this Virus.......
