NIS 2011 Keep failing to download the updates. Sometimes it work but very very slow. It seems like problem with the Norton servers because i can't load Symantec site/connect to Norton forum.(Or load very very slowly)
When I open live update window, it'll try to Search and download updates. This process take ages, sometimes it download couple of KB's and suddenly stop and say failed to update.![]()
Are you guys suffering from this issue?
BTW I'm from UK & all the other websites/ update programs work perfectly.
-
I just ran the live update and it's working just as good as before. No problems with the Norton server' or whatever, I guess..
Have you tried a manual update from their website? -
I found the problem. Stupid Orange B'Band blocks/reduce the speed, thinking it's P2P.
When I connect to the BT/O2/...Etc Networks it works fine.
Gonna call them to fix this or take a legal action if they can't. -
I'm having the same problem
and have orange broadband, how did you identify they were the issue, could you update me with what they say?
Cheers -
Ha ha thanks for the tip
just another victim. try all other b'band networks, you'll be fine. orange just slow you or block you.
I'll let u know -
We are aware of the issues with Norton, Windows and Playstation updates.
We are currently investigating this issue with our Domain Name servers
on some addresses. These servers find the web addresses you enter into
your browser address bar.
This should be resolved in the near future, if you're having download or
speed issues at the moment we have an alternative set of DNS entries
which should resolve the problem.
Please find a guide below to updating your XP operating system to use
these alternative DNS servers.
* click 'Start'
* go to 'Control Panel'
* click 'Switch to Classic View' and click on 'Network Connections'
* if you're using a wired connection, right click on 'Local Area
Connection' (LAN) and click 'Properties'
* if you're using a wireless connection, right click on 'Wireless
Network Connection' (WLAN) and click 'Properties'
* under the 'General' tab, click on 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' and
click 'Properties'
* click 'Use the following DNS server addresses'
* type 158.043.192.001 in the 'Preferred DNS server:'
* type 158.043.128.001 in the 'Alternate DNS server:'
* click 'OK'
* you can now click 'OK' and close any open windows -
